for one of my dog's i had to go back and register parents/grandparents then had a pretty thorough pedigree, however, i could only go back so far...

Okie,
Since you have a unique problem, here's maybe one solution.
Go into the father's page and temporarily edit the pedigree. Add something totally unique to his name, like 12345 or ZZZZZ or something weird. Go back to the dog you need to add the information on, and search for the weird item you added and it should show up. Add him to your dog's pedigree, then go back and change his name back to what it's supposed to be.
Is his name really ______ von Haus? This means "from house". Usually there is another name after "haus".
