Like I said, saying what it looks like through my eyes does not
make it less horrendous.. I only piped up about the facts as I
see them, and some of the possible causes for the worst of it,
(snow, hoarding etc) because posters were going overboard to
exagerate - and I (always) have a problem with them doing that
because it can lead to 'compassion fatigue' in the world-at-large !
I honestly do think that dogs kept where the shit really has reached
5 inches deep are worse off than these were - usually because they
tend also to have even more wrong with them physically (Blindness;
in-grown claws; fleas & anemia, ...) - it's all relative.

It´s useless...
Someone who
Even if these crates would be clean, it´s animal abuse.
I re-read everything I was able to find, because i´m fiddling with this whole mess too much...
Mr Perez talked about CHARLATANS, I think, a lot of your "friends" stepped in saying they are the owners of your dogs in order to help you, and his reaction was " No dog to nowhere "
Right now I wouldn´t give away one single dog to any "owner" without proof ( and "proof" in this case would not be a hand written sales contract, but written proof of SV or AKC ).
Out of topic right now, but decades ago I was flying from Frankfurt to San Francisko with 6 German Shepherds. They had to stay in the crates for 16 hours. When they came out, all of them were perfectly fine, no mess in any crate...
Someone who
- keeps dogs in crates instead of at least kennels of a proper size with a dog house in it
- doesn´t walk his/her dogs
- doesn´t clean his/her dogs area for days (in your case weeks )
Even if these crates would be clean, it´s animal abuse.

What was the weather like preceeding and at the time of the raid?
New animal welfare laws require dogs to be "guarded from extreem tempreatures".
"When their acclimation status is unknown, dogs and cats must not be kept in outdoor facilities when the ambient temperature is less than 50 °F (10 °C)."
For status to be known, each dog would be required to have a veterinarian's certification stating the dog is acclimatized......
"Contain clean, dry, bedding material if the ambient temperature is below 50 °F (10 °C). Additional clean, dry bedding is required when the temperature is 35 °F (1.7 °C) or lower."
If it was cold or snow was melting, bringing the dogs inside wold have been required....

SitasMom, I doubt there are even enough "nice weather" kennels for all of these dogs.
I doubt there are dog houses in the kennels ( and a isolated dog house would be fine according to your animal welfare rights )
Is this the first winter she spends in this area???
You words: "Contain clean, dry, bedding material if the ambient temperature is below 50 °F (10 °C). Additional clean, dry bedding is required when the temperature is 35 °F (1.7 °C) or lower."
Do you see any clean, dry, bedding material ???

Oh and by the way, the only truly "innocent" in this story are the dogs.

Vom Hunterhaus states : "The vet even states he is suprised at how friendly they are. This did not happen by accident. .
They were loved. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?"
They are friendly I imagine because they were damn glad to get out of that filth.
Furthmore your "LOVE" for the dogs, which is highly questionable, has nothing to do
with good temperment.
Case in point:
We have a bitch here named Nixie vd Sequoia Gigantea, who was rescued from a dog dealer
in Serbia. This poor thing her entire life lived with severe entropion, both eyes. This rendered her
basically blind. The dog dealer would sell her at high dollar all over the world, and when the poor
buyers would get a blind sick dog, they sent her back..the money for her never refunded.
Nixie was shipped all over the world, many times. She was kept in a kennel by the POS dealer with other dogs.
She was in pain and could not see. Her eyes oozed pus and she could not open them b/c of the pain..
Talk about ABUSE and NEGLECT!
We along with an international group of rescuers (God Bless them) got her
out of lthere, and got her the necessary surgery to save what was left of her vision after years
of corneal scarring. She currently has about , our vet estimates 20 -30% of her vision, in spots
She is the HAPPIEST, SOUNDEST, MOST AMAZING DOG YOU CAN IMAGINE
BUT IT DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH HER ABUSER "LOVED" HER.
It is good temperament.. So to say that your "love and care" which makes me want to vomit, in light of the
videos and photos...had ANYTHING to do with their happiness at being around people who actually DO
care about them..IS LAUGHABLE, AND RIDIICULOUIS. THE DOGS WERE HAPPY IN SPITE OF YOUR
"LOVE AND CARE" NOT BECAUSE OF IT.
QUIT PATTING YOURSELF ON THE BACK...AND SHOW A LITTLE REMORSE HOW ABOUT?
OH THAT IS RIGHT YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. JUST "LOVED AND CARED" FOR THEM AS THEY
STOOD IN THEIR OWN FILTH.
As for no warrant into your home, the bulk of the dogs were housed in a RENTAL , and the landlord busted you.
So glad she did. I hope she recovers damages from what must be a collossal mess on her property.. or maybe
she is also co conspirator with the shelter and the police to make you look bad? Yes that's it.

If there's some sort of wrong-doing on the part of the CGHS, then that will come out in court.
On the other hand, I have no sympathy for someone that lets dogs live in layers of excrement, and I agree with Jenni and other posters, that did not happen in a day or even two or three days. One of my dogs had chronic diarrhea for more than a year - nearly every single day. I woke up during the night to clean him off, I came home from work during the day to clean him off, I scrubbed the floors and the walls multiple times a day, I used a f***ing toothbrush to scrub in corners, I hosed off and disinfected and bleached everything multiple times a day. I know what it looks like when dogs have bloody diarrhea and I don't care how long you stepped away from that house. If you can't keep up with your dog's shit, you need to give the dog to someone else. You definitely shouldn't have -multiple- dogs. That is just a repulsive list of excuses and I am not buying it. NO animal should live in filth like that. My dogs right now have no excrement in their kennels - it's not difficult. PICK IT UP. Or are you too good to pick up dog shit?

the temp was in the teens (and less) for at least a week before the raid.
even if conditions were bad in the house, at least the dogs weren't left out side to freeze to death!
