I've been away a few days and don't think I can work my way through all the idiotic things on here but THIS is probably the funniest: << I see here on this site that it says his IQ is 130. That makes me believe he is just a Marxist or Socialist>> LOL!!!!!!!!! So, Do Right thinks that Marxists and Socialists are much more intelligent than the rest of us? Or that if you're an intelligent person, you must therefore, being intelligent, see that Maxism or Socialism is the way to go? OR, maybe i we're not either a Marxist or a Socialist we're NOT intelligent? I'm glad to say that even the executives (read "rich") people where I work are switching over to Obama. Our CEO told me yesterday that "Palin has turned out to be a disaster for McCain."

Tess, the selection of Palin has been an unmitigated disaster for McCain.

Yes, she has excited the base - but the base was hardly likely to vote for Obama. What McCain needed was to give the moderates and swing voters a reason to vote for him.

When he selected Palin, Americans who are by and large fair had an initially favorable impression of her based on her convention speech - but she had to prove her credentials as a prospective VP. Once they began to listen to her in the limited interviews that she has given, she imploded.

The notion that she could take over the presidency at short notice is just laughable. Combine that with the fact that McCain is 72 years old and a cancer survivor and it just brought into question McCain's basic judgement.

"You are one of the more reasonable Republicans"

Thank you.  I was the secretary of the teenaged Democrats at my high school.  I even have close relatives that held office as conservative democrats.  I don't like the fact the party has been taken over by uber-liberals.  I think everyone should be motivated to strive to be the best of their ability, and I despise how the welfare laws have destroyed poor, both African-American and Appalachian white, families (to get benefits, an individual cannot have a husband living in the household who works, even at a menial job - way to destroy a man's self-worth).

I further despise how Democrat practices have robbed so many city children of a basic education.  In a city near me, only 51 percent of the students graduate!  And we then want to knock these young people when they can't find a good job, so they go on the welfare rolls, or worse???  WHY do Democrats fight tooth and nail to keep less affluent parents from getting school vouchers, when they have bright children and want the best for them?  Thank goodness there is the charter school system in many localities.  Pushed for and voted in by Republicans, despite Democrat obstruction.

KTF, you want me to be brutally honest about my theories why a segment of Republicans aren't pleased with McCain in general?  Well, he was NOT the choice of the base.  However, when you have open primaries, particularly in states that don't require you to state party affiliation, you get cross-overs who try to vote in the weaker opponent.  Let's be honest, a good part of Obama's success was due to IDIOTS voting to block Hillary Clinton (be careful what you wish for, Pubbies).  If Mitt Romney, or George Allen (destroyed in his senate contest by one, made up word) had won the nomination, things would be very different.

As for Palin, let's look at why Republicans are so repelled by Barack Obama.  Three little words:  Lack - Of - Experience.  People want their leader to be experienced before assuming high office.  Now, I subscribe that Palin does have executive experience in having been a Governor.  Many politically savvy people on both sides of the aisle think the better Presidents have come from this office, Senator John F Kennedy being the exception.  This is because the Senate offers no executive duties, for an individual to practice.  In addition, Palin lacks social status.  It's a class thang, and Republicans (some, at least) aren't described as "country club" for nothing.   Look at how people on both sides sniff as they say, but she didn't go to the "right" college.   Well, not everybody's mama and daddy can afford .Wellesley.

Now, I want you to understand, I am voting for McCain, and working to see him elected.  There's no way on the planet I'd vote for Obama, and given the choice, I'd take Senator Clinton with a huge sigh of relief.

Do Right,

Most of what you write is so ridiculous it warrants no response. Someone already took you to task over your I.Q. statement which is even more idiotic. Why don't you just give up. Little you write, or probably comprehend or think, makes sense. There are issues to talk about, but you cannot focus on real issues. I guess you will just have to see what happens on election night and thereafter.......

by Uglydog on 24 October 2008 - 15:10

Mickey D..Youre pathetic

The Population of Alaska is less than that of Greater Cincinnati. 670,000

A 1st term Governor & Mayor of Wasilla-pop 12,000?

'Executive experience'?  Give me a F'ing break. Shes a moron. Nice looking though.

Neither of these clown parties can solve the problems we face, currently the greatest in US history, and according to Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan-Engineer of the present collapse, a 'once in a century crisis'

by Micky D on 24 October 2008 - 15:10

Bill, you know, if you said, "Micky D, I absolutely disagree with your opinion", you'd be a lot more apt to get an answer, but I know you just have to default to another ad hominem attack.

Bless your heart.

But, I agree with you that we face a real challenge in the next few years.  Perhaps, whoever loses will be the winner in the long run, as they won't get tarred (oops, not PC in this situation) with the hell at which we're currently looking.

Micky

Ad hominem?
Stating that youre pathetic is an 'attack'?

Others like you dont understand youre hypocrisy.

Palin is the least experienced of any politician for this job.  A blessing or curse, but shes shown her colors, shes a Neo CON, states the illegal war for Israel in Iraq is 'Gods plan' and is a complete moron,  that cant answer simple interview questions about Supreme Court Decisions, her reading material or much else. She looks good and can throw out soundbites when prompted. Thats it.

Mickey-I completely disagee with your opinion.

Greenspan: from Market Watch

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan . . . said, he and others are in "a state of shocked disbelief" that "counterparty surveillance" failed. He said he still doesn't fully understand what went wrong.

Greenspan said he favored strengthening the regulatory structure.
Bloomberg writes that Greenspan conceded to a "flaw" in his market ideology, and confessed his mistakes regarding derivatives:

Greenspan said he was "partially'' wrong in opposing regulation of derivatives and acknowledged that financial institutions didn't protect shareholders and investments as well as he expected.

Greenspan's admission might not sound very dramatic at first glance. But for a guy who is known for his cryptic mumblings and for rationalizating his own actions, this is his way of saying "we broke it, now someone's got to fix it".

Sure Alan,  Right. Get on a one way to Tel Aviv -Ben Gurion Airport you F'in Traitor.. or face the wrath

by hodie on 24 October 2008 - 15:10

How can you blame Greenspan for a complete lack of ethical behavior on the part of not just a few, but many AMERICAN business people? What so many fail to see here is that there are so many of us who have no ethics. It is ok, as long as we profit from whatever it is, but when we don't, we run screaming foul. Give me a break. What IS wrong with the picture is exactly that there was NOT enough regulatory oversight over large areas of our economy. And until that is fixed, people who like to take advantage of others will continue to do so, in their private and business life. That is a quality we Americans should not be proud of......but few give it a second thought.

 >states the illegal war for Israel in Iraq is 'Gods plan'<

Ok, you lost me here.  Do you have a link to her saying this?

And, Bill, I agree with you on Greenspan.

That man didn't see this meltdown coming?  Please.  He's supposed to be an economic Svengali, and he doesn't know when you allow people to take out loans they can't repay on way more than a given piece of real estate is worth, then you package these shaky mortgages,  allow financial entities to bundle them and sell them to banks, you just might cause a leetle problemo?

I'll chip in a buck for that ticket, and I'll add another buck if he promises to take his wife with him.
