"I wouldn't care if Obama was a Muslim anyway, and anybody who would hesitate to vote for someone based on their religion aught to be ashamed of themselves."
Well. What do I say to that? If I "hesitate" to vote for a man who worships the devil, then I should be ashamed of myself?
If I "hesitate" to vote for someone who's religion mandates that they kill anyone that doesn't convert to his/her religion, then I should be ashamed of myself.
What a freaking idiot. I have read the Koran (english version of course), and it clearly states that "they" (devote Muslims) are to convert non muslims by the word or by the sword, or "they" (non muslims) should be killed.
Would you like me to send you a scan of that part of the Koran? Idiot. Before you open your mouth, read a little and THINK!
On a related note. CNN has just apologized to their viewers for misquoting a NY Post writer and misleading their viewership concerning what the writer said about her, but they have not as yet apologized to Palin............Just an accident and an oversight, I am sure. :)

To sum up this thread from a conservative perspective
Mr. Obama's political philosophies represent everything that is wrong with our country. It represenst the culture of government dependence instead of self reliance; Entitlement mentality instead of personal achievement; Penalization of the successful to reward the unmotivated; Political correctness instead of open mindedness and open debate. If he is successful, he may preside over the final transformation of America from being the greatest and most self-reliant culture on earth, to just another country of whiners and wimps, who sit around looking to the government to solve their problems. Like all of western Europe. All countries on the decline. All countries that, because of liberal socialistic mentalities, have a little less to offer mankind every year........and of course we are all raaaaaacists who disagree with his philosophies.............right Blitzen?

RPK, You and the Iowahawk have your facts wrong. Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher was not a guy tossing a football with his kid in the front yard of his $125,000 house when a politician picked him out as a prop for a 30 second newsbite for the cable news cameras.
The fact is that Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, may have been playing football with his son,, but stopped, proceeded his way to the crowd, and worked his way around the crowd, and then through the crowd to shout out a question to Senator Obama. (Can be seen in video below)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRPbCSSXyp0
Joe the (Plant) Plumber, is a Fake. Mr. Wurzelbacher said he objects to Mr. Obama’s plans to raise income taxes on incomes above $250,000. He said he makes no where near that much money but he would not say how much he makes or if he ever expects to make $250,000. Court records from a divorce show Mr. Wurzelbacher made $40,000 in 2006.
Mr. Wurzelbacher said he was hired by Mr. Newell six years ago and that the possibility of him eventually buying the company was discussed during his job interview.
Mr. Wurzelbacher’s notoriety has raised the ire of Tom Joseph, business manager for Local 50 of the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics, who claimed that Mr. Wurzelbacher didn’t undergo any apprenticeship training.
"When you have guys going out there with no training whatsoever, it’s a little disreputable to start with," Mr. Joseph said. "We’re the real Joe the Plumber."

Do Right, you should be ashamed of yourself for a lot of reasons, first and foremost, that you know little about the religions of the world, including Christianity or Islam. Secondly, you should be ashamed because you cannot think at all and imply that Obama worships the devil. That is completely idiotic.
You should be ashamed of yourself because it is not about whether you choose to vote one way or the other, but because you base your vote on information that is baseless and false and cannot make a single argument to distinguish why you choose to vote one way or the other. You have no original thoughts in your head on this topic. And yes, by your comments, you certainly present yourself as a bigot. Why don't you meet a few Europeans and see what they now think of this country after 8 years of Bush?
RPK, I read what you stand for above. Personally, we do not have much in common, but I respect that at least you can say what is important to you. You also however, have your facts mixed up. And further, if you are going to continue to quote crap,. such as in the post above "from a conservative" perspective, at least be honest enough to provide a citation so we can know who wrote it. And then, how about an exercise....read it, and tell us how you think it really applies, rather than simply spout off something someone else wrote.
Finally, this country is NOT socialist, and far from being a communist country. It is a friend, as are most other nations of the world, a friend of Israel. We have many problems, but we are a great country, and, if some who spout the crap you do will do something to make things better, one at a time, we can continue to be so. It is sad to see how far some of you have sunk into a morass of self-pity and fear mongering. It is about the same as when people like you were crying about how if John F. Kennedy was elected, the country would go to hell and we would all be ruled by the Pope in Rome and have to convert. It was crap then, and your crap is still crap now. If you really felt the need for serious change, you would be out in society trying hard to contribute something. But I give you this: it is a lot easier to write the crap you do here and not use the brain you supposedly have.
I personally don't care who you vote for. But at least, have some integrity and try to come up with some legitimate reason for doing so.

Hodie, you simpleton. I did not insinuate that Obama worships the devil. I simply made a fool out of your statment that It should not matter to me what religion a person running for office is. Who could vote for a person that worships the devil. I am an athiest and even I would not do that. It would be stupid. YOU might, but I wouldn't. Most wouldn't.
Try and stay with me woman. You have blinders on and LOOK real hard to find flaws in any statement that does not fall in line with your thoughts on the subject at hand.
I also did not say that Obama is a Muslim. Obama himself in his book stated that during his early years, he studied Islam as his father wanted him to. He also stated in his book that his mother was an athiest. I can sort of see why he is confused. I don't subscribe that Obama thinks or believes the racist and rediculous out of the norm things that Rev. Wright thinks either. I believe Obama just hooked up with Rev. Wright because Wright was very influential in that area and Obama had wants to move up in politics in Chicago, so he used Wright's influence at first. He then became a close friend of Wright, at his own admission. The probelm I have with his association with Wright is his lies about not EVER hearing these terrible things Wright has said over the years, about white people, Jews and the U.S. of A. I also think that for a politician, Obama has shown very poor judgement in his affiliations. He joked at the Alfred E. Smith "roast" dinner that he was given his middle name by someone who obviously never thought he would run for president. Yet, when he knew that someday he was going to give it a shot, he still continued to associate with these unAmerican idiots. A racist and a terrorists. Do you Hodie or Blitzen think that Wright is not a racist? That Ayers is not a domestic terrorist? Not Obama is not a personal and close friend of both of those "gentlemen"?
I heard one of those talking heads on CNN (of all places) ask a real good question about Obama. She is an Obama supporter and a Dem. (according to her, maybe she is a liar, I don't know. This WAS on CNN though). Her question was "Obama's relationships with Ayers, Wright and others begs a different question than why did he associate with these people. A better question is what is it these people saw in Obama that made them want to associate with them?"
I like the way that woman thinks. A little out of the box, but so on target.
Do you think that if I worked in Chicago, that Bill Ayers and I could be friends, if I tried real hard? Nope. Not if he knew even 1% of how I think about things. Yet he asked Obama to Blurb his book. Asked him to conduct his first fund raiser in his home. Asked him to dinner with their respective familes more than once. Asked him to help with his foundation.
Exactly what DID Ayers see in Obama that he liked? hmm?
Another question that I would like an answer to that no one in the media seems to want to approach. What in the hell is wrong with the University in Chicago that hired a confessed domestic terrorist to teach our young men and women? Are they f-en nuts? While a Professor (in 2001) Ayers reinterated that he was guilty and did not do as much as he wanted, during his earlier bombing and murdering spree. He bombed a Judges home, a Police Station and at least two government buildings. No telling what he did that he hasn't confessed to.
Obama is either a dunce or way way out of the mainstream. I see here on this site that it says his IQ is 130. That makes me believe he is just a Marxist or Socialist, and not a dunce. But I could be wrong. Maybe he is just stupid.

The right-wing nuts are at full throttle regarding Obama:
First, there was the whole thing about Obama being a Muslim
Then, there was the allegation that Obama was born in Kenya and that his birth certificate in Hawaii is a forgery/falsified.
Now, the latest is an email that I received leading to a link which says that Obama's father is not the Kenyan but an African-American communist, Frank Marshall Davis and that his marriage to Barak Obama Snr was one of convenience to enable his mother to give birth in wedlock and allow his father to stay in the US! It would put to rest the business about Obama being a Muslim but would make his natural father a Communist! This rumor goes on to say that the only person alive who knows the truth about his real father is his maternal grandmother. So the real reason for Obama's visit to see his seriously ill grandmother is to persuade her not to make some death-bed revelation about his true parentage!

>Then, there was the allegation that Obama was born in Kenya and that his birth certificate in Hawaii is a forgery/falsified.<
Um, hold it right there. That little gem is a DEMOCRAT generated rumor.
Berg, the guy who has filed the lawsuit, is a Democrat most recently known for trying to get Bush brought up on war crimes for "staging" 9/11.
Here is a quote from a conservative site:
"This is what we posted back on August 11th: Obama ‘Birth Certificate’ Links Not Welcome.
This is a public notice that I’m going to be deleting any posted spinoff links that try to promote the “Obama birth certificate” nonsense. I’ve mentioned this several times in comments, but it apparently hasn’t been heard by enough people.
The story is absolute garbage, and it’s being promoted now by Larry “Michelle Obama Whitey Tape” Johnson, who has zero credibility.
If you think I’m an idiot who can’t see what’s right in front of me, and want to continue chasing this rabbit down the hole, it’s a simple matter to start a blog at Blogspot or Wordpress. Then you can get all the credit for it. In the highly unlikely event that the story is proven to be true, you can bask in the glory, and I’ll have a nice dinner of crow. Until then, please don’t post this stuff at LGF or it will be deleted."
Nice try to slime McCain, Keeper.

Con't
KTF, I agree with you that the Obama is a muslim story is pretty far-fetched, even though Calypso Louie and Iran sure do want an Obama presidency. Heck, they wanted Kerry to win, and he's sure not a muslim. And, that story about Frank Marshall Davis being his father is more dreck.
There are certainly enough ridiculous rumors going around about McCain, and we all know about the trash being thrown at Palin (remember "Bristol is the mother of Trig"?).
People need to focus on issues, not rumors. Let's worry about how Obama is going to pay for all the goodies he's promising, and how the heck do you LOWER taxes for people who now DO NOT PAY them? We all better be worried that if the Democrats control the Executive and both Legislative branches of our government, there are congressional members mulling over the idea of TAXING people's 401K accounts!
Let's worry about Obama's promise to do away with secret balloting when unions are trying to establish themselves in a company setting. Are we now going to see union goons visiting the workers in these companies, "gently" urging them to vote in the union, then the company's employees having no way to vote privately that they are opposed to unionizing their place of business?

Mickey D, you are right - the original basis was Berg's lawsuit and Berg is a Democrat.
But this has been taken up by what I refer to the "right-wing nuts" - for example, Jerome Corisi is one of those who has tried to propagate the theory that Obama was, in fact, born in Kenya!
You are one of the more reasonable Republicans on this forum who actually introduces a degree of rationality even if we disagree on various issues.
I have a question for you: can you offer an explanation for why well known conservatives are so critical about the McCain/Palin ticket? I have cited the names of some of these individuals in prior posts so I will not repeat them. We are not talking moderate Republicans - like William Weld who just endorsed Obama - but respected conservatives whose credentials cannot be questioned.
