i understand video was demonstrated to show the dog, rather than to play for viewers some fancy tune.
it doesn't really matter dog loves to bark or not. in this case is noticeable - at some point dog did bark.
without hearing how he did it i was left in doubt - dog doing this as part of expression to protect handler
or dog is excited for game with his buddy. and that is huge difference.

Baerenfangs Erbe, you shouldn't be so touchy and always expect that every remark means to be critical
of you or your dog.
sure, people can do video the way whatever they like but much nicer when shot is objective, without attempt
to hide anything, could be negative or the way, differ from how they would prefer it.

Good control and compliance - he obviously really enjoys working with/for you.  He takes the body pressure well when on the suit. If you have the elements down by the time of the trial it looks like no problems passing - good luck.

 

BTW - I too would like to not hear dubbed music when watching ANY video of dogs working in drive.   

 

Defense of Handler is basically built as an obedience exercise and THEN paired with the helper. Of course it's a fun game. It's a sport.

Well it does look like he could stay 'in the pocket' all day, lol.

The longest he was in the pocket, on the same bite, was around 40 minutes. Everytime the helper wanted to stand up he pushed him back down.

Btw Valk, the only one being touchy is you! I merely said that I wasnt sure what you were talking about since there was no barking or growling.
A growling dog on a bite has conflict and confidence issues!

As for the barking, it doesnt take an expert to see that the barks during the defense of handler are made out of frustration amd not because “he protects me!”
He is just now learning all of this and built as an obedience exercise paired with a Handshake and “Bye” as a marking command....

Yes ..The exercise has a lot of OB taught as you posted . I will add , contrary to what people may think and feel : PROTECTION is OBEDIENCE. ... [ Ditto for agility , agility is obedience ] . And a dog to perform must have a high degree of impulse control .

  True BE ... Growling ellicted on a bite is not a good thing  ...... The growling is an expression of  the mood , emotion and mental state of the dog  [ as is any  vocalization ] .. and I leave it at that for now. 

Yeah, the most important thing about protection is obedience. It's up to you what that looks like though.

I'm just now getting true reliability where he actually looks really decent. It's not easy for him to do the defense of handler between the crutches. A lot of people think it's handler help for a dog to heel inside the crutch or do defense of handler inside the crutch. Just try and train it though. You can't really help him come around and keep them in one place since you can't reward quick enough with food etc.

But he's getting it. Slowly but surely he's getting it. It's why we have to spend double the time conditioning it so once the helper is involved and he's in a different drive, it still sticks and he still comes inside the crutch rather than trying to go around it.

I like Ringsport though. Me being slow isn't looked down upon since everyone is heeling slower with their dogs. So I fit right in. :D
