No of course it isn't impossible for a young dog to have hips that show some arthritic change ('damage'), either as a consequence of a congenital abnormality of its joints, or as a result of accidents during puppyhood. That was not my point. Alamaia just wrote "but I don't see any damage on that (sic) hip" and what I was trying to establish was that having some damage already present, or showing symptoms of something being clinically wrong, is mostly not the first 'port of call' for a majority of GSD owners. In other breeds where HD can be present but there has never been such intense interest in the genetics of the condition, there is not the same pressure to have hips examined and graded, by everybody from the German SV, to national and local GSD clubs, to veterinary services.
To post making it seem to the casual reader that this OP's enquiry was as a result of seeking veterinary advice, as though evidence of actual 'damage' was being sought, distorts the purpose of taking the X ray for an OFA or SV grade, (which will almost certainly prove to be the reason this thred exists) and may easily mislead people into thinking it is only done - and the OP is only asking for opinions - for the purpose of dealing with some actual symptomatic presentation. I would argue that language difficulties or not, nobody should be posting JUST "I can't see any damage", in those circumstances. Really not helpful.

Not sure how they will score. May get a good, or may be rated fair.
I've seen worse x-rays, and think OFA may find this one acceptable. If they do, and the hips don't pass, or rate as fair, I would be tempted to resubmit with a better x-ray.

Alamaia I'm really not looking to prolong an argument with you, but that is a silly position; you could say the same about at least a dozen regular topics on here. EG one poster who I am in regular contact with always wants to write ( or for me to post on his behalf) a full essay on genetics every time someone wants to know the colour their puppy is going to end up. Not going to happen. Have a nice day.
