Pup from Vom Banach - Page 2

My friend bought a puppy from Vom Banach kennel and had the same thing happen to her. She ordered a black female from her and the photo the dog had nice sharp tight pointed ears and the pup she was sent had round ears. Also the pup she was sent had some white on her. She spent the money and sent the dog back demanding it was not the same puppy she ordered. Even though it was costly she preferred losing the shipping money to ship the puppy back than to raise a pup she was not happy with. I am glad you posted this. Breeders should be more honest!

I did read your post and was telling my wife about it. So sad. It should be illegal not only for State but Federal since it was shipped over state lines. She is going to have to answer to this. My wife is an Attorney and has a couple of friends i'm sure would love to get me an answer.

I am a Disable Veteran and am going to train him for a service dog. I am not going to take this lightly. This is why our county is screwed up like it is People take No Accountability, Have no Honor, or Trust.

Kevin I am sorry that you were not treated fairly. I hope you are able to get the pup of your choice a partial refund or some other compensation. Thankfully the pup looks like a good one.

I would like to add something for all the new people who may be trying to by a pup and want to ensure they get their choice.

Make sure the pup has permanent identification.  

I microchip all pups before they are chosen and include the chip number on the contract and that is confirmed when they pick up the pup.

Western Rider that sounds like a great advantage to this problem. I am hoping she would read the forum and come to her senses. Besides that how can you return a puppy once you have them home and your kids and grandchildren already loving on him.

I don't want anything from her I just want her to be honest. If you perform a service for someone do it to the best of your ability. Don't scam people. I took her at her word and I direct deposited the money right into her bank account. Paid in full, like that means anything.

I totally agree with Blackthorn. Different features all together.

I hope you like/love the puppy and keep him...as NONE of this is his fault and he looks perfectly lovable. BUT- holy cow...you don't put a different puppy on the airplane than you agreed to send. That is so far from honest...

I have to admit; I few years ago I got a call from a woman looking to replace a puppy that she bought that she said wasn't the pup she bought. I honestly didn't believe her at the time and thought she was a tad nuts. Who would do that? I am thinking now that she may have been telling the truth.Wow.

Foreign papers can take a long time. I think 6-9 mos. is a tad longer than it should take but not out of the question.

Unfortunately a lot of breeders stay in business by screwing over newbs.

How NOT to get screwed over as a Newb:

Do your homework. Read this board and other forums & info
sources; well before you set out to actually buy a dog.

Pay attention to issues discussed like how long it can take to get
papers in America because of the import registrations - its been
mentioned more than enough times on here, on threds just like
this one. So you know what might happen.

Buy local : find through your researches a breeder who there
are no 'black marks' against who is near enough for you to go
over there more than once. Get to know them and see the
kennel first, before the pups are born. See the pups more than
once. Good caring breeders will accommodate this! (But arrange
it, don't just rock up!)

Suggestions like the microchip one are great, use them.

Leave the importing and shipping of far-away dogs until you have
more experience in the breed. Let the experts take the risks.

Those pups are not the same. There is quite a bit of wierd stuff with this litter.  Where you told this was a DDR pup?

Hundmutter, these breeders manipulate people into keeping quiet. Or they just deny, deny, deny. Besides, they sell almost exclusively to people who don't even know these forums exist so they don't even realize they have avenues they can take if they get screwed. If you search this breeder, I bet you find decent reviews. People searching for "DDR" puppies (or any other hot marketing term) are unfortunately begging to get screwed because of who the main players are in that trend, more often than not. There is a huge forum that doesn't even allow people to speak negatively. What help does that offer a newb trying to buy a dog? None, unless someone is kind enough to PM. All your suggestions are valid- I'm just saying that even doing homework doesn't help if you don't hear from the right people.

I've been bullied and gotten nasty-grams for saying MY OPINION of a particular line of dogs based on MY EXPERIENCE. It was from a breeder very similar to the one in question, because they have/had (no idea...don't follow them, lol) a dog stemming from the lines. They demanded that I "cease and desist slander" of their stud dog, which was more than a little humorous since I never ever mentioned their stud dog. Point is, they're predators and they will do whatever they can to protect their craft, ethical and honest, or not. Sadly, hanging around quite a while before you buy seems to be the safest way, as there's no surefire way to do enough vetting.

Sorry, but the "DDR" breeders have an awful lot of novice pet buyers who are perfect candidates for games like Julie played with these people. Maybe not more than show lines commonly bred for pets, but in the working world I think the marketing attracts novice buyers- prime targets. We're talking about what was supposed to be a "DDR" dog (wow, is that dog old!) from a breeder who targets pet homes by marketing big, dark, pretty pets sold under the mystique of the DDR moniker, so I pointed it out. Of course problems occur elsewhere, but we were talking about THIS breeding. The pup doesn't even look DDR to me, but I didn't look at the ped. Looks more Czech/mixed.
