Biting seems to be a common problem with GSD puppies. Both of mine did it (one showline x Am line, Blitz is 100% showlines) and both outgrew it in time. I found substituting toys for fingers worked the best. Dogs need to learn bite inhibition. I found if I yelped like another puppy when my dogs bit me, they stopped almost immediately. Have fun.............

She is always thinking about how to get a good bite on you, and if she doesn't do a full bite she corrects herself to make it a full one. She is very drivey, I know her mom is like that, but I'm not sure on her dad Puck vom Grafental. She is getting to be a real handful. I still have her litter mates, and they are drivey too. The boy's are a little more drivey than the other 2 girls, but not like the little monster, she and her brothers are terrible!! I am keeping one of her brother's as well. You may check him out too. www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/493001.html It's very hard to try and get a good picture of an all black, but maybe Birdy can fix this one to. He isn't like her but he does have her drive, he just know's what to bite and what not to bite, and he's very vocal for the bite as well. I will try to get a better pic of him as well.

My pup is a biter as well. Sometimes shes rough and sometimes she just wants to hold onto a finger. I never say no or get mad at her only try and distract her with a ball in a sock or as sueincc posted, "childrens stuffed animals", they work great, especially little pooh bear who has now had his shirt torn from his body. This biting, I wouldnt say is a bad thing, just need to focus it on something else.

mine was a biter too. I put her in her crate.Problem solved. I took her out regularly and did bitework with her, she targeted and had a full mouth bite from a young age and a good rebite. I never allowed her to bite me. I waited til she was more mature before she was allowed more freedom in the house. I would try to give her house time, she'd try to bite again and back to the crate she went unless I was doing bitework with her. She just needed to grow up. They are such devils at that age. BTW I love your pup. She's very pretty, looks serious, nice expression.

Just say no. Her mother did and she learned important pack manners. It is now your job to continue her education. I personally use real large thick leather mitts to play with my pups. They are not to bite me and learn very quickly that mitt good, hand not good.

I'm already dressed up in basically a body suit. I do have to say she did listen a little bit for once today on No bite. She is a devil girl, she reminds me of her mom with all that drive. Her brother that we are keeping is just the same, but he doesn't bite me, he goes after the tug like crazy, we even had the mom out to distract both of them and they were so focused on that tug they didn't leave it for a minute. Thanks for everyone's advise and nice comments. Kel
