My last litter were all sable and had the black stripe, they do get darker as they age.

Does anyone know of any Sable showline males that live in the Southern United states preferably in TX, LA or MS? Thanks so much.

Thanks, gsdluv2, I'll look at the Arlett site again. I think Blitz and his dam, Panama von Beluga, are sables. She's on the board if you have a chance to look at her photo. I checked his saddle again and all the hairs are banded, none are solid black from end to end. BTW were you the owner of the bitch that was having all the allergy problems?

Your dog is not a sable, both parents are black and tan or black and red, his saddle is probably just diluted. At five weeks, a sable puppy still has the same color as when he was born, that is a light color all over except for a black stripe on his back, you can only really tell a sable from a diluted black and tan in the puupy coat.

OK, thanks.

No Blitzen that wasn't my bitch

Blitzen, I looked at the sire and dam, the sire is not sable but the dam looks like she could be. BTW,in the case of my sable puppy I would probably have misregistered her color if I'd gone off the naked eye alone but through the eye of the camera it picked up the stripe and her color was different to the eye. It is possible for a breeder to miss that when they decide the color,I almost did. As she has gotten older it is obvious she is sable. Also if I remember genetics correctly it would also be possible to get a sable if both parents carry a recessive sable gene themselves not sable.

LOL, confusing, isn't it? Blitz is the same color as his dam. I don't know how to tell if he's actually a sable of if his saddle is diluted as Bea said. Thanks for all the input and hope I didn't waste your time talking about this.

There are sables that are called "Pattern" sables. This means, from a distance they look like a saddle back. Hence the saddle back "pattern". Debby
