It's going okay. I haven't had help, so he's not been worked with but a few more times since this thread started. He's much better about not pulling like a freight train, but he's still not perfect (far from it).

I like the sound of that #4 DVD! That's something I will have to order. Even if I don't get it in time for this show, I have no doubt there will be more :-)

i have never had any help out side of my family, what i have always done is get my kids or husband to run in front of the dog and call  the dog , i would use the person that the dog loves the best to chase , this will motervate the dog and as handler you will need to control the speed your dog goes to get  the movement right. if your close to a club , there many be people that can help.

Just adding one thing:
if your dog is high drive, like it sounds, do your best to wear him out before you start training. This will bring his brain down to a place where it's not so "all out" and easier to get the point across.
Next, if you need to train out of sight, just hide behind something while he's not looking. The handler must make corrections when the dog is not gaiting properly, by a strong but quick jerk of the leash. Enough to pull the dog back into a gait. Then when you see him put his head down or loose focus... make a little noise or one call of his name should bring his attention back ie head up. You do not call or do anything if the dog is scrambling and not settling in. The handler can reward the dog with a quick short "good" when it is gating properly

Good to hear he is improving.  Keep up the good work.
