4 Pack they dont call you the QUEEN for nothing, nice posts. Me I have 3 inside Sch3 10 years, 3 and half work line male and 2 year old showline male. They R all taught to get along I guess that makes me a good dog trainer.

Loose, usually no more than 3, but sometimes 4. I can't imagine 23 dogs following me every where in the house. :-O

just to share -- i have 10 loose at once -- three kenneled -- point i wish to make -- a lot of what is written in books .. especially the rank ..pecking order is hogwash -- yes ther is a .. let me use the word hierrarchy but not as the way .. those make a buck quick books communicate -- those that have been through this can comprhend what i am talking about --- and even in dog sports -- many do not understand the differential ..or how to achieve it , between having dominion over the dog vs. having dominance that resuls in true realtionship and synergy between human and canine[s]. -- but without being verbose -- hope other GSD enthusists can someday experience this

Typically there are but three (3) dogs in the house unless it it foul and cold weather. Then, there are five (5) total. I tend to rotate dogs between the kennel and the house.
When the full crew is in the house, it is always guarded due to dominance issues between two (2) bitches. I either spend my time being a chaperone to one or a jailer to the other. Crates are wonderful for those long winter nights.

Never more than 2 of the 5 dogs I own. The oldest, intact male, is in the house every night, and I rotate the others. They are ALL REQUIRED to be good house dogs and obey house rules.
On rare occasion, maybe 3 in together. But only on rare occasion. I like a clean house and don't enjoy house cleaning that much.

Currently 3 and sometimes one more when my son comes visiting. I have had up to 6 in at one time and it was a very long winter. I vacuum daily, can't even remember when I didn't....

While we are on the subject, of keeping dogs in house. How do you keep the crate from smelling? I have a 10wk old puppy and I keep in a crate for about 2-3 while Im in class, but it seems to have a smell to it. How do I keep the smell out. I bathe her and she doesn't smell. Would putting baking soda on the top of the crate elimnate odor?
