I would probably blame public stigma and the failed and irresponsible logic of breed bans and breed bigotry on this at least a bit. Toby was a pit by the looks of it and I would be pretty damn sure this had something to do with it, hell the person doing it probably thought they were doing the neighborhood a favor. It is sick that we as a species are so evil and heartless, dogs are a reminder of what perfection and pure love really are. God bless little Toby's soul, and may he watch over his little girl from across the rainbowbridge. My most sincere of condolences to the family and victims of this tragic and inexcusable act. I hope they find this lady and she gets hers, karma is a bitch as they say.

I could be wrong but I think if it was a breed thing the person would of just run over the dog or shot it.  Dropping it off at an out of area shelter would of been a death sentence in many areas.

This is so tragic...  Could also be that the person who took the dog (either to steal or thinking it was a stray) saw posters and brought it back to set loose by the house, and the dog then wandered into the road and was hit by a car????  Doesn't lessen the blow to a special needs child one iota, but we do tend to jump to the worse possible scenario.

My heart goes out to the family and their child, only a warm tongue and wiggly butt can start to heal the hurt.  Best wishes, Jill

Too bad some wonderful soul couldn't provide this little girl with a new service dog. It doesn't lessen the pain, but perhaps her little spirit could accept a new guardian & companion?

And wouldn't the dog have had multiple injuries from an MVA? If this was an intentional killing, may the perpetrator rot in hell. jackie harris

I honestly think someone should bash her head in!

I agree with everyone, that the person who did this needs a little street justice. It don't matter the reason WHY they did this, for all we know, this too was someone that knows the family or at least the dog.
Not too many people go around scooping up pitbulls, Really Now.i hope they do get to the bottom of this.
I would be willing to donate a Shepherd pup to this little girl for a service dog. I just so happen to have the perfect one for her.
So Jackie, if you would like to contact a contact person for the child, i'll give the pup. I was already thinking of giving a pup here and there to handi-capped children, particularly autistic children.
Someone that posted on another post to me stated they give pups to the disabled. I think "what a great thing to do if you are able." And I am able.
(I would contact the family myself but there barely seems enough time in the day any more to get everything done, for me anyway).
