Beware any email, phone call, or letter offering you money you didn't earn, or more than you ask for something you have for sale.

It is ALWAYS a scam.  No one ever gives away free money.

I received a nice check for almost five thousand dollars in the mail, along with a letter informing me that I had won $250,000.  All I had to do was call them, and they would give me a number to which I was to Western Union the sum of $2,800.  That was to pay the taxes and fees for my winnings, and after receipt of this money, they would then release my winnings to me.

Yeah right.  I was born yesterday, too.  Under a barn.

I still have the check...The only reason I haven't turned it in to the Post Office is that I don't believe these losers can be caught, since they act outside the US.

Beware...

if it sounds to good to be TRUE...it probably is.  Scam artists operate off of people's "GREED".  if you get caught up in a scam...you have to ask yourself how you got there.  Beware of anything FREE...costing you money ahead of time.  FREE is FREE.  YOU WON...means YOU WON.  If they then ask for money to get your reward...you won nothing...but are buying trouble.  And if they ask you for money...how can it be FREE???  GREED...it is their main tool of choice.
