I will be out to this ladie's farm today and will get further info on the cost she is willing to go to and as well as travel distance.
Stephanie what is your rescue website so we can read through your criteria and view the dogs please?

This is the website, however, I do think that is way too far away, especially in the winter months to ship a dog. I like to keep track of my dogs too and I do have strict requirements especially with "farm dogs", most people let them run loose unsupervised and they end up chasing livestock and getting shot. I do require a fenced yard, I used to make exceptions, till I almost lost a dog, adopted through another agency, due to no fenced yard.
If you want have her fill out an application online, I will review it.
Maybe you can check out the local humane societies, they often get lots of GSD's in. There are alot of GSD's down in your neck of the woods...
Thanks, Steph

Her yard is fenced. Her one lab is older he lives indoors and sleeps on her bed. Her dog that passed waswell cared for and treated for cancer but lost the battle. Her kids have moved out and she has always wanted a gsd and decided this was a good time in life to do so.

I just bought a Chihuahua, very well-bred (but it's still a Chihuahua, lol) after contacting a few rescues. I decided I'd rather shell out a grand on a healthy dog w/a known background than deal with those loonies and their rules for trying to obtain what is likely a poorly bred pet w/issues and an unknown background.
I would venture to say 75% of people on this board, responsible working dog owners many of them, wouldn't pass your application.
I know you mean well Steph and you do a lot of great work, but steadfast rules are not the best way to place dogs. And yes, I fostered for several years and was responsible for evaluating and adopting out Pit Bulls for a local shelter. Some of the best people didn't look so great on paper, but none looked as bad as I do on one of those applications, lol.
