JRANSOM

I would stay with my animals or take them with me.  I would absolutely not abandond them for some stranger to pick them up and then possiblly never know what became of my loved one.

I do understand that there are circumstances that make us apart from our loved ones be it human or animal.  But they are still ours and the bond with some is greater than others.  So, some will do whatever it takes to reunite w/there family (beit dog,cat or human)  And some will do or sacrifice for that family member!   Would you?  To some, that's an easy and to others, not so easy.   What's your answer?  Does the human always come before the animal?

He he he... bugout for sure, but we have a multifuel deuce and a half ( you could pee in this thing and it would run), 6 wheel drive, goes anywhere ( roads?? who needs roads?!?!) There is plenty of room in the back ( covered of course) for about 20 crates, firearms and ammo. Our dogs and cats go where we go. We have everything necessary to survive for weeks without civilization.

For those of you not familiar with the M35A2 it has no computer to run the vehicle so an EMP would have no effect whatsoever. It will run off of any petroleum product including used motor oil, ATF, mineral oil ( transformers are filled with the stuff) hydrolic oil, vegetable oil, gasoline, kerosene, diesel, etc......

My husband and I have talked about all the above scenarios, extensively. There are two books out by James Rawles. One, a fiction, based on much research, so quite realistic is called, "Patriots". The other book is non-fiction and called, "The End of the World as We Know it". This author has an survival blog and travels to provide education. He believes in choosing a small group of other people, thus providing multifaceted talents and "strength in numbers".

Hey Deb, they're really inexpensive. The one my hubby bought came straight from the gov. and with having it shipped ( $600) came to less then $2000.

If any are interested PM me and I'll give you the website. MV owners are the nicest people I have ever met.

Both.

I don't own more animals then I can transport in case we have to evacuate somewhere.  Granted it might get a little crowded in the vehicle, but if they have to, they can all fit.  As for personal belongings, give me 30 seconds to grab my two external hard drives, and we are good to go.  Photos, important papers, etc are all on there, with various levels of security for certain things.   I always have a few weeks worth of canned and dry goods in the pantry, and bottled water.  Not really for emergencies as much as being a "buy in bulk" type personality.

We had to evacuate a couple of years ago because of wildfires in my area, we packed everything we needed into the truck ahead of time, then waited to see how close they would actually get.  They got close enough we left and drove to a friends about 50 miles away, then stayed there for a week.  I'm sure the dogs got tired of being crated on her back porch, but they were alive and with us.  If it had turned into a long term situation, and i was in a situation where I couldn't keep them with me long term, I would have arranged transport for them to friends/family in other states, until I could arrange to get them back.
