It isn't holistic and most vets won't recommend it because it is cheap, but, I have used it on a number of dogs that I have rescued and it has cleared up hot-spots in a matter of days. I think that every dog that I have ever sprayed it on looked at me at first like, what are you spraying on me, but, then gave me a look like, that feels a lot better. The cortisone numbs the pain and takes the inflammation away.

I have to disagree with good Ol' Dr Oz because even though Hydrogen Peroxide is not good past the first day or so, it is excellent for the reasons he mentions not to use it. By removing the cells in a damaged area (usually causing bleeding which is good for most immediate wounds) along with toxins and blood, the body can then replace them with good healthy cells. When was the last time he did wound care I ask? We have treated human patients with this and Ive done the same with dogs. You wouldnt want to use it over and over because then the wound takes much longer to heal.
Also for any of you who use Neosporin, that slows the heal time too.
For the hot spot I use my ear wash that I make from betadine, alcohol, vinegar, and borax (less the borax in a licky area). It disinfects the area and drys it out all in one.

I carry 3 bottles of PEROXIDE in my truck for many reason....
He had a surgeon of dermatology also on the show that day....He agreed.. Dr. Oz does other than Heart surgery...He is well learned in the medical profession and for myths that people come up..
I know peroxide has been used for years...I also know a swig of whiskey is ok too...but I would not want to do it daily nor can you disprove either.
JUST MY OPINION>>.
I agree with Wanderer...that solution is one good one also...
There are many homemade solutions for cures to just about everything we know about that invades our body...
I also recommend to every American woman to get on a a HIGH ALKALINE diet....CANCER does not grow in ALKALINITY....so why not live the safest you can..It takes months to read about HIGH ALKALINE DIETS so get busy...
It also takes training your mind and body to do it..
Just like feeding RAW DIET TO OUR DOGS>>>>>SOME DO NOT WANT ANY PART OF IT>>>>
THAT IS WHY WE HAVE OPINIONS AND CHOICES>>>>There is more than ONE WAY to SKIN A CAT!!

Had many clients( from the veterinary clinic) use this on their dogs and heard about it from an old school vet. Soothes and cools the skin and dries the moisture up so it can heal. Available just everywhere in the pharmacy or health area in shopping areas..
I have never had any of my dogs get Hot spots other than a Golden I had many many years ago before I knew much about good foods. But none ever in my GSD's. I don't bathe them and I feed Pinnacle and have fed this food for many years now. Knock on wood we have great coats here, healthy skin and no issues. My geriatric dogs speak volumes as well no lumps bumps tumors or health issues.
I also give 1000mg Omega 3 fish oil, 400 Vit E 1 time per day and 250mg 2 times a day Ester C.

The last time I used peroxide, it was to help remove road rash dirt after I fell from my bike. It worked like a charm and the gravel and dirt just bubbled to the surface.
Thank you for all your suggestions.
