Nona,

No offense taken. One of those days and it's still a pretty sore spot for me since the whole thing just finished up the 12th of this month.

The other dog, your discription fits perfectly.

I've not been taken buying a dog.

I was hosed by a JRT breeder in IL.

I told her I was looking at ground-trials and conformation showing. I wanted genetically a compatible male and female. I got:
  • -- a chyptorchid male who never got full adult dentation, and has a grade-3 subluxating patella. Borderline grade-4.
  • -- a female with mental issues (for a JRT, I might add!), no papers, and when I contacted the breeder she denied selling me that dog. After I confronted her with the proof of purchase, she refused to have further contact with me.
Long story made short, I still have the male. His temperament can't be slighted, and he still runs and plays like he has normal legs. I rehomed the female because she just wasn't right in the head, and there was nothing I could do to fix it. "Developementally disabled" is the politically correct term, I think?

GSDs? I've had a few bad experiences both as the buyer and the seller. On the whole, I think things have gone fairly well for me. But then again, I prefer to buy dogs in person, from people I know and trust. If that means going to Europe, it's worth it. Much better than buying a dog from overseas that I've never met, and hoping everything is okay when (and if!) it arrives.
