SitasMom..

I am going to be honest... I don't care. I have to do things, you have to do things we all have to do things or... we can all find nifty excuses.
When I want to I find a way... when I don't I find an excuse.....

Thanks Mudwick, He's as solid as a brick, and nice and red too. We needed a "B" name and it just happened.

Hi,

I am not out to say this is right or wrong......... well, maybe I will.
The problem I see is :
Now you have a litter out of untitelt, unproven parents. (notice,I am not saying they are not worthy, but by the book (at least here in Germany), this is/was a wild breeding).
Let's say it turns out the pups are of not desirable conformation or are mentally unstable, or breeding quality, etc.....
The pups are sold or given away, new owners does not give a rats ass about rules and regulations either, wants to see what will be the outcome of a breeding........ here you go, more pups out of untitelt, unproofen stock. You picture the rest. Basicly you add to the problem, instead of sticking to some rules. Ok, I know, no rules like it in the US for you, but you definately know about them, but decide not to bother. On the other hand, many bitch about the price for tiltelt, koered stock coming from Germany......... Imo, maybe these rules are there to help you to have a better breeding programm, and not, as many seem to think, to limit your rights.

Trixx, if a breeder with the SV does something like that, you bet, they wont make it known, because they would face sanctions from the SV. Accidental breeding can & do happen, but no German breeder would annouce that in public.

I believe we had that or a simular discussion a year back.

Jim, hope you are ok, you hit the nail right on the head.

I got (and still do) TONS of grief for my accidental breeding here in the U.S., and I kept all the pups!  This was a breeding I had in planning, with no reservations about eventually conducting at a later time.  Oh, this litter's gonna cost you, one way or another.

I usually do not comment on theses types of threads, but I saw this thread last night and have been thinking about it.....
It certainly is not better from the breeders stand point to invest tons of money and time in a dog that turns out not to be breed worthy.......However, in terms of what is better for the breed ,certainly ONLY breeding proven  stock is better from the breeds stand point.....

#1 priority is  Breed  or something else........

I have come to the conclusion that breeding is like Poker..it requires a lot of money,  skill, and a pinch of luck .....I'm stickin with Poker....

Kim,

With your living in Houston, I'm surprised you don't take advantage of Noell there for breeding. He may well be the best dog in the USA.
