.  Once again the so called police K-9 experts voice opinions.  On average weekly I can't begin to count how many times people approach my vehicle even with the signs stating caution K-9 and want to see him or pet him. When at a crime scene or conclusion of a find every Tom Dick and Harry will get close to see my partner or ask to touch him despite my repeated requests to please stay back he is "working"!! When foot patrolling the mall parking lots trying to keep out the burglars the same thing as above.

Believe me if a K-9 is released on a 14 yo the reason was justified, as the feds would have a field day. If you people are dumb enough to believe the newspapers or tv without hearing first hand, ...............well?!

I agree with Deacon & Hans.  Too many people think they can just walk up on Police K9s.  Hard to comment on whose to blame without knowing the full story.  I'am a K9 Handler and never approach other handler's K9s without being told its ok by the handler.  I feel horrible for the kid for getting bit, but just because the kid got bit doesn't mean the Handler was at fault.
