I, too, hope that Oli & his family are well. Iceland has been described as the land of fire & ice, Volcanic activity has been a prominant part of Iceland's cultural history, I remember learning about how Icelanders dealt with a previous lava flow when I was in grade school. The people of Iceland did deal with those issues very creatively, using a pump to spray cold ocean water on a lava flow to harden it into a diversionary wall, thus saving the village, or some such thing...I hope all will soon be OK there. jackie harris

That eruption is sure disrupting Europe, I know, and I hope that soon things settle there, as well.

Wow, according to CNN, the last time this particular volcano erupted, the activity lasted for 2 years. The last eruption was in 1821.

Not at all very nice for the Ice Landers, Over here all airports are still closed and 1000's of travellers stranded, including some trying to get back to the USA
