Phil Behun

Not sure about continuity in all 50 states but basically a personal protection dog is for just that, "personal protection".  If someone is fleeing, they are no longer a threat and will cry to that effect in court.  If they are in the "six foot" range of a leash, that's personal.  When the "bad guy" has retreated he has basically given up and if pursued now becomes a victim.  Isn't our defense system grand??  You would have to check with your local laws to make sure but these days it's a very sensitive situation.

It was staged for video.......never seen a man being robbed stay so calm and the posture he has is fake...he isnt looking for a phone or going after his dog either....and no one with   business would act that calm and unconcerned...he didnt even back up when make put gun over the counter...I have been in retail  business 48 yrs and trained the same cynerio in dog protection and it is not done like that.....sorry folks    very poor illustration to new people , like Phil said ,,who are not aware. of the laws and danger/

The handler and the dog were both very  much new in this proceedure..or just not to swift.

Yea I worked for a lawyer...made me hate the "system" even more!! I have heard a story where a bugler falls through a sky light as he is attempting to rob a place and got cut by a kitchen knife in a knife block he landed on and he wanted to sue the homeowner cause he got hurt!!! That is crazy!! I will have to find out about the laws around here as it is a bit backwoods.I can carry a gun and probably be aloud to shoot someone but if I sent my dog on someone that was breaking in I would probably get in trouble!!! There are some perks to a small town then there are some downfalls!!

You can't shoot someone if they are retreating even if they break into your home and if you shoot them coming at you oar in the home   do not shoot in the back...if the criminal is leaving and poses no threat to you    you cannot shoot him....or her or IT>>>>>>

same with a dog...you have to be careful when you let a dog do your work for you...entry into the home and dog attacks   ok..but if outside and do just attacks and you cannot prove there was a threat to your life.....you are sued..

Many more cynerios in the law and the   criminal attorneys know all the ways to    Library the LAW.

Well I think I rather have my dog as I can call him off but once you shoot a gun you can't call that bullet back.So what happens if I were to shoot at a guy that just broke in and he was coming in through the window backwards but had the gun in his hand pointed at me? Working for the legal system sucked.Things that should be right weren't and things that were wrong were right!! It is so screwy.

They used to say--Shoot him and drag him inside your house, now they say Shoot him and drag him to the neighbors!!!
Right on, Criminals have all the rights and the victims have none...

Hey, I agree and like the latest terriorist that is still alive and breathing   No way Josea....

Some of these crooks that break in our homes   would never be missed .   In the early days of America   the crooks got disposed and done aways with...no suing the owner of the property or person they harmed, hurt or stole from...

Go back to the Old way of dealing with these  breakers of the law.

If  the person is coming in the window backwards,  have not figured how he is aiming at you..kick the son of a gun in the   UH HUH  and he will drop the gun...then hit him over the head with a crow bar or a lamp....duck tape him and call    911...

if he moves shoot the  nut but  make sure it is from the front...remove duct tape....lol

Just checked to see where my gun was....lol
