hmmmm -- mine didn't come with any bowls. Does it have the Wire Grate on both sides for ventilation? What size did you get? Mine is 48" Long.

Yep it has wire vents on each side and has holes in the top part at the back.
It's an intermediate size, it isn't for a shepherd.
I got this one.... Only difference is it's dark grey which I think I prefer to the beige.

I've been given a link to a parts site that sell the better doors, the one with the different locking mechanism. So if I need to i can get one.

It is somewhat different from mine. The one that I have is made by Doskocil; it doesn't have the holes in the back.
It has a different Locking Mechanism on it also. I had to laugh about your hubby calling them Gerbil Bowls --- actually the bowls look like the ones that I used for my Parrot.
