I looked up the pedigree and my boy ids kin to his boy. I just talked to him and we are going to arrange for a blood test on Monday. He seemed very nice and I am hoping I can help him.

Have you tried going down the sibling list and trying to contact owners that way?

Debby, yes, I added the ped earlier today and sent the sibling page so they could do just that.

My heart just goes out to him......and esp after I talked to him. I am going to talk to him again tomorrow and I need some info from him. Then on Monday I will talk to my vet. Where the two dogs are related is they have the same grt grandfather and when I talked to him he said he believed it was close enough. When I was talking to him he was driving from Chicago to New York to take his boy for dialysis (sp). I know nothing about all this--I tried doing some web searching and found out a little more and I talked to my friend in the medical field. So nothing is a given it's just one step at a time and I will keep you guys posted.

New York??? Are you sure??? Yikes; that's a long way for dialysis. I know the hospital he takes Orso to, and it's in Buffalo Grove, IL: Are you sure you didn't hear "Buffalo" and think New York? No matter either way...just sounded odd.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that your dog is a match. PEOPLE WITH CLOSE RELATIVES NEED TO STILL COME FORWARD THOUGH if they are willing. There is no guarantee that this dog will work, so the more dogs, the better his chances.

As I said, I'm sure there are many out there, esp. w/the big names on that ped. The problem is many, if not most, of the owners of those dogs are probably doing something with them that would prelcude allowing a kidney to be taken. Most dogs of that type breeding are not simply pets.
