And, lo and behold I was wrong!  It is "that" Jonathan Richard.  Oops.

My fear is that the press and cops are referring to schutzhund activities as "attack dog training." The poor dog...I would not be surprised if it ends up being put down.

I'm in that area, kind of, and I've never heard of him...must be a top-notch trainer.

What a freak.

He should be ashamed.the last thing we need is our breed getting bad press. The poor dog will be punished for doing what he has been trained to do.

I hope the people who have the power will reprieve the poor animal and rehome him with someone that has the capability and knowledge to treat him with the respect he deserves.

Not a trainer at all. Look back into the database on what this guy has done.

I don't know the guy.

In the past I have known a few other people that had stories about them in the newspapers - that were not even close to the truth.

Lee

Lee, There is a police involvement. 911 was called, multiple charges filed against him. This is not a "story". Why are defending him?

I'm not defending him.

I have never heard of him before.

I just don't instantly believe everything I read in the media.

They had a dispute - the reporters were not eye witnesses.

If he did it - I hope he gets what he deserves.

-----------------

My neighbor has a happy go lucky Lab that wouldn't hurt a flea.

I personally witnessed an incident - a guy called the police and filed charges against my neighbor - because the Lab went up to him and barked.

He claimed it was a vicious dog.

Just because the guy claimed that in his charges did not make the dog vicious.

I know a person who was sued because her puppy (under a year) jumped up and acted playful towards someone on a nature trail.  The woman was afraid and claimed it attacked her.

OK, Lee and vomzellmer, I'm convinced. It's far more reasonable to believe that (1) the wife made everything up; (2) the police made everything up; and (3) everyone at the hospital made everything up when they treated and released Richard's wife. Maybe they even had a surgeon put some fake bite wounds on the wife too! That poor man! He has clearly been the victim of a terrible, massive conspiracy against him that involves just about everyone! Perhaps you can arrange to take up a collection for him? Not!

Richard will get his say in court, where the charges have to be proven against him beyond a reasonable doubt. He won’t go to jail because of anything posted here. Dog people are right to be disgusted by the description of the incident, and to worry about the dog and the negative impact this kind of publicity could have on dog sports and PPDs.

Richard is free to post his side of the story here once he gets bailed out of jail. He's not shy about posting rants.

In the meantime, I'm curious about why a lawsuit over a jumping puppy and a charge filed about a barking dog are viewed as similar to a woman's injuries that resulted in a trip to the hospital and charges of felony aggravated battery, unlawful restraint, obstructing justice, and domestic battery.
