That is a very good tip thank you.

I would see that helped as dogs do find the quickest route in doing things requiring less foot work if needed.

I like to use a fenced corner and put the blind (open side) towards the corner of the fence the dog can not go throught the fence so he learns to turn tight into or around the blind......Thanks Steve for the pics.

On the first 2 posts I have some really cool pics of Dean Calderon working a dog and using a fence infront of the blind.  What I think it does is not only teach proper postion in the bark and hold but also creates more agression in the dog.  We start puppies on one side of a fence and the decoy on the other......makes for stronger and more agressive barking and less dogs locked in prey drive.   IMHO.  If I am wrong please someone educate me.

No Vickie,
I think that a very good idea to do that with puppies it will certainly get the little devils going,
At the moment Izzy is teething i stay one side of the fence with her on a long  line,  i have bought her a soft harness for protection Quite a little Lady she looks in it as well i will post a Pic of her wearing it
But the main reason i bought it was to save the pressure on her throat she pulls so hard i thought no, that will not do her any good so this one has the leash connected at the top so her neck is free from  any pressure, Anyway she goes like a train at the fence on a long loose line, The helper is the other side and he is moving left to right etc she goes ballistic then i take her away, It is not done only twice a week until she can bite again Once she goes back to it i think they will use a big tug for a week then the proper sleeve, she is so forwards in that respect

In addition to what Vickie said, I remember seeing Dean use  fabric fencing with a Dobie that was too wide around the blinds.  Fabric fencing works well because it's inexpensive and very  portable, easy to roll and easy to put up.

That fabric fencing works well for teaching them to go over the hurdle or  "A" frame and come right back over instead of going around.  Just use those plastic t-posts and attach your fabric fence to that and make a long alley way with it on both sides and your hurdle or "A" frame in the middle.

Here is one of my favorite training pics of Dean working a dog from behind a fence and in the blind.

Its suprising what they do to help the Dogs improve, Last Saturday they had a Dog who was hitting the Meter jump as he went over that will as we know is points lost, so they put up a elastic rail on top of the meter jump the dog goes over and he touches the elastic line and he then lifts his legs up a little so when after practice the elastic rail is removed and the Dog jumps cleanly over the Meter Jump well most times it works. with the elastic it cannot hurt or harm the dog as it is a line but is over one inch wide so the dog can see it

Some people use a bungee cord, another thing I have seen that works is for someone to simply raise the top board just as the dog is going over so it taps his feet, he is then more careful about clearing the jump in future, also an electric line at the top will do the trick as well.  As a great trainer I know says "Many ways to the top of the mountain".

With my jump I just have a extra board 2 inches tall that I use in all the training so when we go to trials the jump is always shorter then there used to jumping.

Also I,ve found the problem with working my Fiest on the verticle wall she has now decided the 6 foot chainlink kennel is as easy to get over as the vertical wall  is?    So tonite we build a roof over the outdoor kennel.
