Hi - glad to see you've joined the list.
I guess I should introduce myself - I have been a member for a while but have never posted - just been a quiet reader. I own SG Berta vom Quasliner Moor HGH, SchH 2, HICs, CD, UCD - who is the mother of Rezkat's Lexi and CountryGSD's Eian, and I have another daughter Elka vom Quasliner Moor BH, AD. My husband owns Berta's littermate G Braveheart HGH KKL2. I have to say it has been a great experience training and working these dogs and they have taught us so much. Berta and Braveheart (aka Becket) will be 9 next March and can still work all day long and are also great family/companion dogs
So I guess you could say the whole clan is on the list now!

Welcome Susan and Kathy! I'm usually a lurker and rarely post.
Where do both of you live? my own time is very limited right now but I've been hoping in the future I would have the time to train with someone who does the HGH herding. I've talked to Ulf in the past, but I understand he does not take on apprentices and no longer does instinct tests for dogs, he told me he will take on one dog a year for training, and he will do training sessions with owners....maybe one of these days I can get a job in New York and move out there just for the opportunity.
I love sheep, I love lamb chops, lol. Those dorper sheep are awful nice. Do both of you own your own flocks? Do you do any type of herding trials or instinct tests?

Welcome to the board. And you have HGH experience too. That's great! I don't think very many folks here do herding, which is too bad since our dogs are sheep herders after all.

We are all in NJ and trained with Ulf in north Jersey before he moved to New York

Unfortunately none of us own flocks. Since Ulf moved to NY I have been working my dogs in Schutzhund with a club in Pennsylvannia, and have been doing some obedience - but my Berta is first and foremost a herding dog and I do miss the herding

Yes, it would be nice to own our own flocks. :)
Someday maybe....
Fortunately for me, I am able to continue to train on a flock of sheep in NJ, that was purchased from Ulf last summer. Along with train in Schutzhund. CRAZY ME! Usually works out to be, sheep once a week and schutzhund 1 to 2 times per week.
My Ike, has been retired from Schutzhund after getting his 3 last year and I brought him up to Ulf's for the HGH this past October.
My female, Lexie, is working towards her Schutzhund 1, hoping for sometime next year. I brought her up to Ulf's for the HGH this past October as well. Both are first and foremost herding dogs, but Schutzhund is a close second. :)
