Sorry, Ron, but some people cannot build a 6 foot chain link fence for their dog, due to cost, or to home owner association rules.  Some people who live in rental property might want a pet dog, you know.  If a dog is cared for, and allowed plenty of time with his owner, I don't want some PETA extremist law making it impossible for that person to own a dog.

I had a hunting dog who was a better behaved and happier dog on a tie-out compared to being in a 10 x 10 kennel. And if you ban chaining your gonna have people putting 3-4 dogs in a 10 x 10 kennel. trust me ive seen it in the hunting circles.

I have never felt better about being  a member of this board than today, when I read all these responses to this stupid petition.  Everyone who told this guy "no way" rocks!

When I go camping with my trailer, I have two choices: either keep my dogs in the trailer or crate at all times, or tether them outside. I certainly believe tethering a dog 24/7 and ignoring it is cruel, but there are times when chaining or tethering are the only way to keep a dog safe.

Nope, not signing this petition!

I've heard of some home owner's associations that won't allow people to fence their yards. How are THEY going to keep a dog if this petition becomes a law? Of course, that's JUST what PETA wants! No one will be able to keep a dog, because it's just too darn hard, with all the stupid rules!

Now what we have to do is contact the people sponsoring the petition and tell THEM.  Better yet, take your posts and send them to your Congressmen, because they're sure going to be getting the "anti" petitions and on the surface will think, well, why not ban this?  They need to be educated.

Is there a way to comment on the Care 2 site withOUT automatically signing that petition?

Only one "BAN" needed and that's to outlaw stupid people. I have had to tether dogs in the past, renting with no fence or camping, also tethering for training. I don't want that right taken away from me because sombody else is an idiot. Take tethering away and dogs will be left in a storage shed with no light, food, water or clean air to breath...then what? Soon enough dogs will be taken away from us period.

Outlaw this, ban that.  How about you take away ALL my choices then I won't ever mess up....until something new comes along.  Then I'll be screwed because I won't be able to make a decision to save my fool life!!!  Ever wonder how the generations before us survived with out bicycle helmets, gun laws, pit bull bans and air bags?

Nothing wrong with a tie-out.  Hell, I was put in a harness and tied-out when I was a toddler so my mother could hang the laundry and keep me safe.  Use the head on your shoulders and you'll be just fine.
