Brent, I am being very careful about her eye and not getting anything in it.  Fortunately, she's being extremely still when I put the antibiotic on and I avoid getting it too close to the eye.

Hoodie, thank for the tips.  I'll call the vet first thing in the morning and see what he says.  For now she is comfortably sleeping and I'm keeping a check on her.  Adding a thin coat of antibiotic seemed to sooth her itching, the stitches did feel dry, so I think she's ok now.  Swelling IS going done since she's leaving it alone.  The vet saw her a few days ago and said to keep the stitches in a few extra days to insure that the wound had properly healed.  She completed her antibiotics on Saturday.  Oh yeah, and don't depend on me for photos of quality...lol

StinkyK9, you bring up an excellent point that I was going to make a new post about.  I don't want my girl scarred.  The vet said they did an excellent job stitching her up (was done by emergency vet) and she should have no scarring but I want to help in that if possible.  And a big thank you for the compliment!  She and my male are my babies.  I'm still devestated about her being attacked...and just hope she fully recovers physically and mentally and forgets the whole thing.

If the vet did a good job of getting the skin together correctly scaring should be minimal, usually fur will hide a scar, on the face it may be visible but I think in time it will disappear.  I don't know of any miracle cure for a scare, I have seen product's for human's but I usually don't trust the hype.   Someone else may know of something I don't.

When Falon was a year old she had a nasty cebastious cyst removed from her head.  The stiches crossed between her ears and between her eyes.  She looked like Frankenstein for a few weeks.  The collar was a must to stop her from scratching (at least when I was not with her).  As for scarring my vet did a great job with the stiches, however she ended up with a little change in the hair - direction, which you can only see if you look closely.

Hope your girl recovers soon.

Just an update...she got her stitches out today!  She is very happy.  The vet said it was healed nicely and she should have no scar.  Thanks for the help and advice everyone!

Mycitracin Ointment is an antibiotic and has a mild analgesic.  Might help.

Hope she feels better and recovers soon.
