Well, then, maybe there's hope for Beckett! He'll still stretch out & wizz, but Kalie will be in heat soon, maybe that will inspire him! jh

Gunner usually pees on his front legs.

the one i have now it was around a year. my neutered mixed breed started around 2 or so, but my god he was worse with marking everything than my intact male. he used to crack me up when i let them all out and if they were all going potty at the same time. you could tell that he was angsting over which spot to go to first of the other dogs as he was going himself.

"Gunner usually pees on his front legs. " lmao, with that name, no wonder ;) Anyway, it has nothing to do with 'age' but with maturity. As in humans, dogs mature at different times. In a 'pack', most young males know better NOT to lift in the presence of the adult males, as it shows 'growing up' and in a pack you're much better of being immature as long as you can get away with it. At least that seems to be the pattern with mine. Merry Christmas to all!

Blitz is an only child, he began to lift his leg when he was 4 months old. He was only around other dogs at training class held inside a building where there was no peeing going on.

I have a 7 month old that doesn't lift his leg. We have another male that is almost 3 that lifts his leg especially on walks when he is marking. The 3 year old is fixed so that did not stop him from marking. Anyway the 7 month old goes into a stack. One leg further back than the other. He has been doing that since I got him at 8 weeks

In years past my Mike was raised with a bunch of dominant bitches and only saw a need to lift his leg when the grass was too long and tickled him. Mr. Nemo on the other hand has to tell the WORLD that he's the big dog in town (course the grass at a couple inches probably tickles him) My favorite was a friend's young dog who one day finally decided to lift his leg. Problem was he was on a hill and he lifted the wrong leg - like jack and jill went rolling down the hill. Decided that was dangerous stuff and never did it again.
