Birdy

by Birdy on 15 December 2007 - 03:12

macawpower58, All those peas cause the gas. I stopped feeding all of Diamond products as I found that barley gives my dogs gas too. I can buy Canidae for less than most of the designer foods so I stick with it. I had one time this summer with one bag of Canidae where Acetaminophen was somehow involved in the manufacturing of the kibble. No other problems since and it only has rice in it. I can get a 40 pound bag for $32.00 Birdy...

I don't think Diamond has settled the class action lawsuit yet and my friend who lost 4 dogs opted to not join in that suit and filed her own. Hers is still pending too. Not sure what, if any effect it will have on the future of that company. I've been thinking about switching Blitz to TOTW, but am hesitating now. He didn't do well at all on EVO, had loose stools and gas for the entire time he ate it. What's worse than a dog fart? Answer - nothing. I always end up going back to Royal Canin for him. He likes it, but Blitz is a dog that eats whatever is put in front of him, and his stools are normal now. No gas either. I am concerned about grains though. I often remember the food I fed my dogs when I was breeding, a locally milled food with lots of corn. They were never sick, lived to be at least 12 and had no issues whatsoever. I have to wonder if dogs really do need designer food?
