Again, thank you all for your kind words. There are service men & women everywhere that have been injured & disabled. If anyone is ever in a giving mood, the U.S.O. and D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) are great organizations that really make a difference. Without turning this thread into something too philosophical, regardless of your opinion on the war, hard working soldiers follow orders given them and put their lives on the line. Daily life itself in Iraq & Afghanistan can be pure misery. Imagine being 18 years old and thrown into an environment where a wrong step can blow your body into pieces. Or the morbid task of moving a dead dog out of the road so a convoy can get by actually turns into your death because the carcass was rigged with an IED. My point is, the stress alone can drive people mad. It is unsafe and quite frankly, scary as hell. No matter what you may see on TV or the internet, the desensitization of violence tends to dull the severity of what is actually happening. So I ask anyone reading this to remember this. # 1. There are soldiers that have been disabled and or dismembered for life. They did what their Commander in Chief ordered them to do and they did it with bravery and integrity. # 2. Military families live on extremely low pay. I have seen entire families waiting in line for free food. If anybody understands the extreme sacrifice our military members truly make so we can sit here are chat about dogs and bicker, please lend a hend whenever you can. If you live near a military base, contact the civilian liason and ask if you can help with childcare for families, donate clothing, food and money. While we saw so many unfortunate sick & hungry people on the humanitarian episode of American Idol, there were many recently disabled soldiers now living with depression, and hungry children of military families. It has always amazed me how our own go un-noticed.
Again, thank you all for your kind words. God bless.

Thanks Funk Man. We live near McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis. I will contact the civilian liaison and find out about donating.
I get furious with people around here that complain about the Fort practising or the Base doing flyovers. Without them we wouldn't have what we do.

Hey! Funkster!
Been downright boring without you. I can't even TELL you how much bullshit has been thrown around that needed your very own, unique response!
Glad you're back. Maybe we could do a tag team thread hi-jacking soon.
