Ill likely vote all incumbents out. For Presidential candidates-Ill write in None of the Above or leave blank

I must vote my conscious

America was once the most admired & loved nation decades ago, and prospered.   We are now the Most Hated, next to Israel,  and we are sinking.   Theres alot of competition for that title too.   I dont aspire to be the Most Hated.  And its not for who we are, but for What we do.   Switzerland wasnt attacked for being 'free'.

America Operates 740+ Military bases around the globe. We have toppled more democracies than we have created. Our CIA is involved in some very serious terror.

US military coups that Toppled Democracies & replace with Brutal Thug Dictators.
Mossadegh (Iran, 1953), Arbenz-Guatemala 1954,  Velasco-Ecuador 1961,  Bosch/Trujillo- Dominican Rep, 1963,  Goulart-Brazil, 1964,  Sukarno-  Indonesia 1965,  Papandreou-Greece, 1965,  Allende-Chile, 1973, & Many  More.

Colin Powell?

I believe Colin Powell stated that he didn't endorse Obama because he was black. Now Powell I figure is probably in his 60s maybe close to 70.

So if color is not the issue, can someone give me a link to all the white people he has endorsed for President in the past? I did a search and can't find any. So if there are no previous endorsments Colin must have just woken up one day and said, "hey I need to endorse someone for president before I check out".

I would venture to guess that he has already been promised a position in an Obama presidency? Might that have woken him up to the world of Presidential endorsing? No way LOL

As far as Biden's remarks, none of you actually believe he thinks Obama will be challenged but McCain wouldn't be?   He said Obama because he feels strongly Obama will be the next president and therefore there is no need to even mention McCain.   I can't believe I have to explain this, many highly respected members of both parties believe that regardless of who it is, any new president will be tested.

Blitzen.  Glad you are done.  I thought that Al Gore won because he got the popular vote across the country, and that Bush stole it?  In which case my vote DOES cancel out Hodie's vote.  I only wish I was a dead person in Chicago so I could vote several times.  Do you really think that someone is not going to show up and vote under  a false name?  Not going to vote or attempt to vote more than once.  Sure, probably not under the name of Mickey Mouse, but diffinitely under the name of Joe Smith or whatever.

Why is it every election year that it surfaces that Dems are involved in voter fraud and attempts at voter fraud.  It is never the Republicans accused of such things.  I personally observed "workers" on the streets of Cleveland, downtown where the homeless hang out, giving them packs of cigarettes to get on the bus and go vote.  That is illegal in and of itself.  But then they tell them who they should vote for, which is much much worse.  These people don't have a clue and just do what the person wants that just gave them a pack or two of cigarettes.  I can't blame them, but I do blame the ones buying the votes.

ACORN has been in the news, CNN, FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC for many years.  Never in a good light.  Now, surely you know that all but FOX are liberal news organizations.  Why are they reporting the voting registration frauds and why has ACORN workers been found guilty of voter fraud in the past?  Why has ACORN paid a fine for voter registration fraud?  Why is it NEVER ACORN accused of helping the Republicans of stealing votes? hmmm

If you want to know the truth of how I feel about the drivers license thing.   I don't think that you have to show a drivers license to vote.  You might have to show a valid ID in some states.  In some you don't have to show anything I believe.

I believe that if someone does not have the minimal qualifications to make an informed decision about any given race, they should not be allowed to vote.  We don't let convicted felons vote (well, we ain't supposed to but it happens all the time and we just overlook it).  Why do we let some bum off the street vote, that doesn't even know who is running?  Yes, that is a radical suggestion.  But I believe it makes sense.  If not, then why don't we let 10 year olds vote?  Same thing don't ya think.  Maybe my dog could vote by sniffing each candidate and whichever makes his tail wag gets one vote.  Same thing.  If you have to be picked up on the street, paid with a bribe to get on the bus to vote, and then ask who you should vote for as you arrive at the voting location, then you shouldn't be there.  Let the informed public, be them Dems or Repubs. do the voting.  I don't want the most powerful person inthe world voted in by a bunch of misinformed idiots.  If you live on the streets, you are an idiot.  If you are hooked on drugs or an alcoholic, you are an idiot.  If you are relatively healthy but do not work and have not for ten years, then you are an idiot.  If you can not pronounce McCain's name nor Obama's name, then you are an idiot.  If you think that Obama is the Messiah, then you truly are an idiot.  Got that Louie old chap.

Well, you really didn't have to splain that Lucy.  We ain't deaf and dumb out here.

When you mean respected members of both parties, who are you referring to?  Powell?  Barr?  Larry King?  Chris Matthews?  Louie Farakhan?

Joe Biden went out of his way to specifically put the word "generated" in his statement, meaning that whatever scenario he was thinking about, would be "generated" specifically for Obama because Obama is perceived as the weaker of the two condidates.  Read his entire statment and tell me again that you think he was just referring to ANY next President?  Sure, most if not all Presidents have to deal with crisis, but no one disputes that Mccain is ready and able.  Many Many dispute Obama is ready and capable.

Even Obama at a rally of his, stated that sometimes Joe goes astray and doesn't word things correctly.  Everyone talks so much about how Sarah Palin could be just one 72 year old hearbeat away from being President.  How come no one mentions that Slippery Mouthed Biden could be just one assasination or one hundred packs of cigarettes away from being President.  Now before you Secret Service agents come pick me up, I ain't wishing nor threatening any harm to anyone, expecially the next President of the U.S.  I am just comparing oranges to oranges.  The reason bandied about back when the Republican Party was trying to get Colin Powell to run for President back in the day, and he refused, was that his wife was afraid that he would be assasinated because he was black.  That wasn't that long ago and surely there are those worried about that now.  There are idiots out there.  Mccain has lived through tougher things than being 72 years old and survived.

Simple really.  Anyone (and I do mean anyone) can vote for either candidate.  Mccain who is a genuine war and country hero (no one disputes that, NO ONE), who wants to keep in place the current Bush tax breaks, and in fact wants to lower some more taxes, and can look Putin straight in the eye and stare him down, and everyone agrees IS READY for anything that comes along, including Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton................  Joe Biden even said that he would be honored to serve with and on the same ticket as John McCain.

Or you can vote for the guy who has so so many friendships and affiliations with known country haters, white people haters, and who has never met a tax increase that he didn't like, and wants to take from the rich and give to the poor (minus his cut for his agenda), and who is "NOT READY" according to none other than Joe Biden,Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton.

Ninja:

GENERAL COLIN POWELL   in 1964,  as a registered Independent, he supported  LYNDON JOHNSON  , a democrat,  and in 1995 he not only switched to the Republican Party, he endorsed BUSH , AND he spoke at the Republican Convention.  Also, in every interview he has been very clear about WHY he is endorsing Obama, his answers have made perfect sense, and not once has he said it was because Obama is black.

Of course the  people who try to spread dumb stuff like "Obama is a "closet Muslim"", or "Obama pals around with terrorists" or "Who is Obama REALLY" are the same idiots starting this sad bull shit about Powell endorses Obama because he's black.

And by the way, OH YES I DO think ANYONE who would actually BELIEVE Powell, one of the finest military leaders of our country  would be so shallow as to only vote for Obama because he is black,  is themselves a racist and a bigot,  a real loser.

I wouldn't care  if  Obama  was a Muslim anyway, and anybody who would hesitate to vote for someone based on their religion aught to be ashamed of themselves.

As a lifetime member of the UTU, and a 3rd generation railroader, 2 days ago when I cast my vote for Barack Obama, it was an easy decision.

Sue,

Thanks for the info on Powell and Lyndon Johnson, I wasn't aware of that.

I knew Powell was close to Bush (#1) and one Bush appointed Powell's son as head of the FCC, which I believe he still is today.

I also read that Powell and his son are no longer talking because of his decision to support a Democrat, but that is another story that has nothing to due with this thread.

All.......

I have seen a lot of disgusting things in my time but the assault on "Joe the Plumber" for having the intererst to ask Barack Obama a not particularly tough question has to be the most appalling. Obama forgot for once to don his mask and revealed his intent to sieze and redistribute the modest wealth of hard working middle class taxpayers for his brand of socialist flummery.  The mainstream media and Obama's thugs are therefore attacking Joe Wurzelbacher in their fury that Obama stupidly spoiled the con he was working on the American people. I guess you have to be really, really careful what you say to Emperor Obama when he deigns to notice you.

Iowahawk says it better than I:

We've all witnessed a lot of insanity in American politics over the last few years. Up until the last few days, none of it has seriously bothered me; hey, just more grist for the satire mill. But after witnessing the media's blitzkreig on Joe 'the Plumber' Wurzelbacher, I can only muster anger, and no small amount of fear.

Politicians -- Sarah Palin, Bill Clinton, et al. --  obviously have to put up with some rude, nasty shit, but it's  right there in the jobs description. Joe the Plumber is different. He was a guy tossing a football with his kid in the front yard of his $125,000 house when a politician picked him out as a prop for a 30 second newsbite for the cable news cameras. Joe simply had the temerity to speak truth (or, if you prefer, an uninformed opinion) to power, for which the politico-media axis apparently determined that he must be humiliated, harassed, smashed, destroyed. The viciousness and glee with which they set about the task ought to concern anyone who still cares about citizen participation, and freedom of speech, and all that old crap they taught in Civics class before politics turned into Narrative Deathrace 3000, and Web 2.0 turned into Berlin 1932.0.

Godwin's Law! you say? if the jackboot fits, wear it.

I'd say the jackboot fits Obama and his Flying Monkeys and assorted ass kissers quite well. Anyhow, Iowahawk has the answer for all who are disgusted by this.
