In reading this thread, I am troubled, not so much by the all-too-predictable posts of self righteous small mindedness that I have repeatedly seen in other off-topic threads, but by the illumination of the fact there is a self -professed “police officer” that appears to be predisposed not only to the same mental ideology (it is widespread and prevalent and police officers cannot be held to a higher standard f intelligence and understanding) and also to what appeared to me to be – and I could be wrong – but a threat to another poster. I am baffled.

Fitz – you said you were a police officer for the past 20 years – fair enough, I have had enough experience with cops to know they are definitely NOT the helpful bastions of integrity that my parents told me they were, LOL!, BUT what on earth was your purpose of posting: “


"Juron Ron -  I'm sorry you are so jealous of my salary and benefits you should have got in the line to become a Police Officer when you were looking for a job, instead of becoming a street level pharmaceutical salesman, which is I'm sure,  your current occupation.  "


At which point the poster stated:"Obviously you know who I am...as I do you :-)"


So you're friends or acquaintenences, it matters not. I am astounded that you as a police officer would post personal information about another poster without their permission.   If you knew something about me, would you post it when you felt it might give you an advantage?  Not an intellectual advantage, but an the advantage of a vbully?  A veiled threat to post more information? 

Now maybe I'm completely wrong and I misread the tone behind the posts – but I have to admit, I found it troubling.

And just as an aside, when you posted “My healthcare is just fine!  No need for socialized medicine”
Surely you understand that as a public servant YOUR HEALTH CARE is paid by your employer – who are actually the public and as such, your health care  IS socialized medicine, LOL!


Note to Baby Eagle - glad to see my post regarding parasites had such a long lasting and dramatic effect on you, LOL!


On topic:  Did I hear correctly when I was told that Ted Kennedy was reading one-on-one  to school children each and every week right up until his death?

 

I don't know if he was able to read to the kids right up until his death, but I do know the Late Senator did go to a public school to read to kids once a week for many years.
