Who said that mods could not post personal opinions? I was not aware of such a rule. Some of these members and mods go way back and from time to time things are going to get heated. Let things alone and they will work themselves out in due time.

I really think this thread should be located in the OT section.  It's causing a lowering of activity in the ON topic discussions.

You're exactly right, Malndobe.  In the beginning and for the longest time, the mods agreed that they would prefer to NOT be in our faces, and would be only showing up to moderate - period.  You can find reference to it on this thread:  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/bulletins.read?mnr=449994&pagen=12   In fact you can find reference to this on many of the earlier moderator threads, they always stated they would use their other screen names for posting opinions, but as mods, they would respect the wishes of the membership, the goal was to not be seen or heard as long as the members followed the TOS.  If you're going to change your policies, that's certainly up to you but at least have the grace to admit that's what your doing, people aren't stupid, they know what they remember.

Regarding the sudden edict about no "personal attacks".   Please post links to all the out of control threads that must have precipitated and thus warranted such an announcement, especially since it was already covered in the TOS.  Why not just follow your own rules?  Instead you make a big deal of it, start a grandstanding thread telling people about this new "non" change?  On top of it, to tell people you want to hear all about it in PM but not post their opinions on the board is transparanently  self serving, as was the "keep'em coming 20 to 1" nonsense.  What were you afraid of?  

To accuse people of no longer posting because they can't attack people personally is complete bullshit.  Maybe people aren't posting because they are tired of the bullshit and moderator mood swings. 

I found this mods words about respect to be right on target on that thread.

Very true.  The mods patting each other on the back on that thread was a bit much.  The locked thread and asking for PM's then giving a tally was over the top, I agree.

We sure did get away from that, right on this thread!  Sure hope we all (including the mods)can get back to it. 
 

I know venting is normal and it is why it has been allowed.  Even though it did take this thread way off topic.

The moderators are all reasonable people, but we are also strong people. We all have fairly thick skin. The only reason I continue to post to this thread is to show Oli and the moderators side.

This is not an easy task and anyone who thinks it is, is sadly mistaken.

You guys be good to each other,  the site owner and moderators and stay on topic you will see us disappear.

You want less moderation, good read the TOS and follow it. If that happens you will see less and less visible moderation.

I need to take off and please be respectful to your moderators today and beyond.

Like I said, show us all these threads full of personal attacks that led to your grand edict.  Another thing, you get from the membership exactly what you give as far as respect goes.  Respect is earned.

  

 

Right but the respect starts both ways.

We were not gloating, maybe if it appeared to be it was from lack of sleep because the mods were staying up late discussing things.
