Fun Poll--What would your dog do? - Page 15

spook, I got him from a "good" breeder who has a kennel in Germany. Here is his pedigree: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/470542.html (it's a christmas picture). We are going to advanced puppy classes starting this next week. We had first pick male - and ended up with a monorchid puppy. He's getting neutered next week.

Melissa, I wasn't questioning the quality of the pup. I was wondering about the followup contact with the breeder. Is this your first GSD? Did they know that? I'm very happy to hear you're training your pup; it is one of the keys to a happy, long lasting friendship.

Well, let's look at it in real terms. If my wife was the subject of the attack, the residing male would probably be out the window on on the guy before his hands were on her. If it was me, he would definitely bark and if it could be translated you would hear "Come on Dad, you're a tough guy-you can take him." To that I would say "Thanks a lot boy-I'm dying here!" Bob-O

Depends on the dog I have with me. One of my males is so jealous, when I get out of the car and talk to a stranger he'll start immediately to take my wallet apart and scatter the content all over the car. I have gone through many wallets, now down from expensive leather to the cheapest Walmart models. So, if he is not too busy doing that and actually look out the window who knows what he'll be doing next? If I am so negligent and leave the window open with another young male, an import from an excellent German breeder, he'll be out the window so fast, and then we both would get bitten, the mugger and me. This male is young and not yet selective! If I have the young female with me, she'd probably sit at the window looking straight at both of us with a big grin on her face. The male that would have dialed 911 is unfortunately long dead. He knew how to turn off alarm clocks in the morning so that I would sleep in.

olskoolgsd you make some very valid points and you have a wonderful love for the gsd. I agree with spook melissa it is very important to get that dog into some classes. Get a hold of it now before it is to late. In the end you and your dog will be much happier.

My dogs would sense someone before I ever had to worry about it. If they were ignorant enough to jump me, they would be in serious trouble. My female will not let anyone near the truck and my male has the ass to back it up. Being that I'm only 4'11" and 100 lbs. I'd be an easy target, but I'd really feel bad for the idiot that tried to jump me with my "babies" around.

I hope my dog will defend me.  I suspect she would eat the groceries while I'm getting the hell beat out of me. 

Seriously, I think she would make some attempt to protect me but I couldn't really say how far she would go. I don't really put my eggs in anyone's basket for protection. Dog or otherwise.  I try to be alert and I have a handful of really dirty tricks that I have no hesitation at using.  Somebody puts their hands on me and all bets are off. No such thing a clean fighting when it's for real.

Now, Blitzen will have to share a tale with with you the huge metal door stop story with you about Geronimo last summer when he was a house guest a Molly's.

Actually, all of my boys are very "creative". Geronimo's half-brother Zeek "bred" several times with a female who had been "spayed" six weeks earlier. She had to be "re-spayed" to remove an ovarian remnant. A decade earlier, due the the "phermone effect" of having a neighbor with Turvurens in heat, Geronimo and Zeek's grandsire Lex bred my GSD bitch who had been out to heat for a month. Otherwise,these guys have always been reliable studs with incredibly high conception rates.
