No apologies needed. I understand your point completely and I don't disagree. If we were to speak in general terms, the overwhelming majority of dogs, sport dogs included would not be effective in a real situation. However, as I am involved in training and decoying for sport dogs and Police K9's I see both sides. The sport dogs that I work that can handle pressure get worked more seriously and benefit from it. The Police dogs are trained differently and are worked "civilly" but also in prey as well. Prey brings speed and the dogs are taught that any fast moving object is prey. The dogs are then taught to switch to defense or fight drive, which ever term you prefer to use. Hopefully, the dog is in the "zone" and locked on.
I think many of us are saying the same thing in different terms or have different ways of explaining similar concepts.

Thanks for clarifying that. Maggs already corrected me for a similar mistake with "sight" when I should have used "site." I appreciate it coming from you. I'll edit that post and fix it.
