As for resume's, given the dearth of qualifications Palin has, I bet there are several here who have much stronger resumes.
Kershberger is not American born so she would be clueless about what is and is not required of elected officials. She just benefits from living here and selling litter after litter after litter and gold bead implants and a lot of other bunk.

just skimming and i wasn't following everything that was said - i got a bit confused
i am certainly no constitutional scholar but it's my understanding that the office of vp has evolved over the years. changes being made as needs became apparent and duties were then added. the voting/presiding over the senator was a source of great conflict so was very restricted in an attempt to keep the branches separate while giving the senate a tie breaker, but then it became clear the vp needed to be "up-to-speed" with what the pres was doing so if something did happen to the pres the vp could make a quick adjustment. i don't remember which pres was the 1st but at some point, i think around the middle of the 20th cent. though it may have been earlier, the pres began inviting the vp to be privy to much of what the pres was doing, as a way of grooming the vp in case the pres could not fulfill his (her) duties. then in the late 1940's the national security council was established and the vp is one of the members. http://www.whitehouse.gov/nsc/
regarding palin's resumé: i want the vp to have a better resumé than i have, and frankly it doesn't appear she does. i don't understand why it's a bad thing to have exceptionally intelligent leaders - btw: being savvy & good at memorizing lines are not signs of a strong intellect. the unfortunate truth is: palin is lucky to be an average person with an average resumé. i wish she was the right person i would love to see a woman as vp or pres but she is simply the wrong person for either of these jobs.

It is NOT a bad thing to have intelligent and well-read and knowledgeable leaders. G. Bush was not one of those.
Many of us would like to see a QUALIFIED woman in high office. And it will happen sooner than later. But for me, I want it clear that the person, be it male or female, be highly qualified to hold the office of President of the United States, or VP for that matter.
I may go to a foreign country very soon. There is a chance I could meet the President of that country and other diplomats during that visit. As such, I would have about as much foreign relations experience as Palin LOL. But, I do know a lot more about Russia than she does, and China, and, and, and, and I bet a lot of you do too, even though we may disagree on many things.
Oh yeah, I also stayed recently at a "Holiday Inn". LOL

The qualifications for the vice presidency are the same as those for the presidency. The vice president must be a native-born American of at least 35 years of age who has resided in the United States for at least 14 years.
Looks like she is qualified to me!

being eligible and being qualified are 2 very different things. what you are describing is eligibility. anyone who is eligible can indeed run; and we hope - keep our fingers crossed, which clearly doesn't help - that only the qualified win. i wish there was some sort of 'test' to weed out the unqualified but sadly there is not, so we must rely on informing the voters of each candidates qualifications and hope each voter can see through the mud slinging and see the facts.

I am describing qualifications! Please do a search on VP or Presidential Qualifications and you will bring up the "Qualifications" I posted.

by justcurious on 22 October 2008 - 23:10
these words are synonyms so can be used interchangeably, but in this discussion the subtle differences are no longer so subtle.
here's what i mean:
eligibility - having the right to do or obtain something; satisfying the appropriate conditions
yes, as you state, palin does meet this
qualifications - a quality or accomplishment that makes someone suitable for a particular job or activity.
so here is where things get a bit sticky and is what is being called into question.

If someone doesn't think Palin is "Qualified" I suggest they send Google an email stating that those 3,950,000 hits you get when performing a search on "Qualifications for Vice President" are wrong. All those encyclopedias evidently need to be corrected.
Or better yet just tell them you're offended, after all we have become a country of the offended, by the offended, for the offended, the majority of course no longer counts. That may have something to do with the 10% approval rating three of the four candidates (Senators) presently have.
I kind of wish we could see a poll on how many people think the Main Stream Media are doing a good job, their numbers might just be lower than that 10% our Senators have worked so diligently to earn.
