Now we're getting into dogs close enough to look at for use. Seeing Frei in the pedigree is so far back there are hundreds of dogs to consider.

How many of the dogs on the list have Amigo or the more recent generation Quartz? What percentage?

@dogwood:

"Social aggression is the only type of aggression that can be categorized as active aggression. Even though the term active aggression is used frequently, it really only applies here. The reason social aggression is called active aggression is because it really does not require any specific action as a trigger stimulus. Social aggression serves two purposes of biological significance. One is ensuring the even distribution of a species across a given territory by repelling equally strong individuals. And the other is to establish and maintain order in social units such as a pack. Social aggression is always directed at the individual's own kind. In the breeds that were created for police and military service, selection took place that expanded the direction of social aggression to also included the dog's adopted kind, humans. As an example of contrast, in the dog fighting breeds, selection took place to ensure that the social aggression would not include humans."

"Does anybody know what show lines lines are consistently producing 'social aggression'?"

I would hazard to say that there are none, as show dogs are required to be approachable and to be handled by strangers.

I've been at work, so I had about 6 pages of reading to do to catch up. Sorry I didn't get to nominate any dogs. However, the FIRST dogs that come to mind when I think of producers of working showline dogs, are Quartz Templari/Pitt v Tronje/Amigo Belgier  (Quartz and Pitt are sons of Amigo). VonIsengard beat me to mentioning them. In fact, I was trying to look up all the mentioned dogs, and most of them (sorry Randy, percentages aren't my thing) do have at least Amigo in the pedigree. Furthermore, although I'm not nominating them, my dog and my trainer's dog are the two best working dogs at our club (both showlines) and they have very similar pedigrees. Both have Amigo (one through Quartz, one through Pitt), and, perhaps coincidently, both have Yello St Michaelsberg. When I hear of dogs mentioned that people say "can work", I look up the pedigree and look for Amigo or one of his descendants. Also, although I didn't see him in the pedigrees of the dogs mentioned, I've always heard that Hill Farbenspiel is know to produce showlines that can work. Thoughts on that? Is it not true because he is not in the pedigrees of Universal Siegers/BSP contenders?

By the way, I once heard that there is a stud in the US who is linebred on Amigo Belgier. Can anyone confirm that? I would love to know!

Quartz Templari & Pitt v Tronje Re assumably true show with outstanding working ability. Both are direct sons of  Amigo Belgier but from different mothers, therefore we can assume that this working ability comes from the Sire.
Assuming a son inherits equally from both mother and father then Anigo has 50% on Quartz and 50% on Pitt.

Randy, if this is what is meant by %age and the above assumption is of credibility we can move on and check %ages in the other dogs.
