I would caution anyone making assumptions about what monies have been received. To make an unfounded statement here may mean donations stop. I am confident that if seriously excessive donations were made, efforts will be made to return those donations or, with permission of the donors, apply the funds to a continued supply of medication for the dog, or paying Susan something back. As far as I know, knowing about some donations, I do not think we have even approached the total cost of the surgery yet. So please, let's not make statements to the contrary. If and when donations are no longer needed, I have faith that Susan will let us know.

Hodie, once again you are very kind to suggest using donations to reimburse me, but it’s just not an option. It was my responsibility to find out exactly what kind of eye problem we were dealing with and what treatment was needed before I asked people to help out. The money was very well spent. *If* there is an excess, the donors can decide what to do. The $900 per eye is just the surgery cost and does not include medications, a conehead, or any possible complications. So I’m not worried about an excess yet. Nala’s people are adding up the donations as they come in and will keep us posted on how we’re doing with them.

I am thrilled that so many have been willing to donate. It’s worth remembering that a $20 check can be as big a deal as a $900 check to the donor. There really are lots of decent people out there, and it’s wonderful to see so many of them here!

OK Susan, we will defer, of course, to your wishes, but again, kudos to you for stepping up in this way. I am certain that the money will be well spent to help this dog, and thus, the family. And yes, you are correct that any donation is much appreciated and for many, even a small donation represents a considerable sacrifice to make it.

Keep us all posted so if we need to help more, we can try.
Regards.

That is wonderful of you Robin, given your loss of Drago. Make the donation in his name! A great way to remember him by helping another beloved dog.

Take care.
