If you have never had a good experience with a Pit, you will never be able to relate to, or understand it.
Let's not get carried away and confused with the term "game". Very few Pit Bulls are Game.
The term for dog aggressive Pit Bulls, is "HOT".
If a person has one, or more Hot Pit Bulls, and multiple dogs, then strict precautions must be taken to avert an accident.

"Arranged" dog fighting is illegal. I see no reason to own a pit. I also consider "arranged" dog fighting as abuse. No, I will never understand it and cannot relate to it in any way. I definitely would not want the worry and liability for owning one.

Yes, Stephanie, it is *I*! Gasp! Choke! Shudder! The infamous Boldog Kennel!!!! LOL!
I'm not here to discuss my pit bulls, or why I find them the best breed on earth! : ) I have owned and loved some GSD in my life, and came here to see if I could find some intelligent discussion of important dog issues which are so sorely lacking on pit bull forums. Pit bull owners, I am the first to admit, are a rather uneducated, drama filled group. I almost left immediately when I saw that Stephie and her friends were on here, knowing that she would make sure that the rumors that dogfighters, puppy millers, and the others I piss off on a regular basis would be brought up to distract from any info I attempted to post.
I am guilty of being rabidly anti-crating, and along with dog fighters and puppy millers, this issue has earned me some very aggressive and busy "haters". I'm a big girl and I can stand up for myself, and those who know me know the care my dogs get. For any of you interested (not sure why you would be, but if you are) please check out my websites, the first dealing with the American pit bulls I have donated to the Washington State Patrol and other law enforcement agencies as detection dogs. www.LawDogsUSA.org the other my main website which describes my quarter century love affair with the world's greatest breed : ) www.WorkingPitBull.com
Luckily, I continue to have the respect of people I admire, and, just as luckily, I continue to have the disdain of folks who, if they did support me, I'd be very upset! I am VERY outspoken, speak my mind and love my dogs. I have faith that those who want to know the truth about me and my dogs will not hesitate to contact me if they have serious questions or concerns and leave the drama, hysterics and rumors to those who spread that type of stuff. I can be reached at BoldogKennel@comcast.net
So, can we get back to the *intelligent* discussion? : )

Maggie, it is "OK" not to care for a certain type of dog. It's OK to be prejudiced, I guess. It's your deal. FAR too many people who do not understand bulldogs get them - and hence the problems we have right now.
I wonder, are you old enough to remember the 60's, when GSD were the "fad dog" with the bad guys? My sister was severely mauled by our neighbors purebred GSD and to this day has scars on her upper arms, thighs and throat from this near fatal and unprovoked attack. Very luckily, my parents raised me to judge each dog on its own merits, and so neither my sister nor I have a prejudice against the GSD. I'm sure thankful for parents like that, otherwise I would have missed loving some awesome dogs...
There are people who like sheep herding dogs and people who like dogs bred to control bulls. To each his own.
I will say this: at my schutzhund club my van full of pits is the ONLY vehicle anyone can walk up to and pet the dogs in it with no barking or aggression! : )

What liability? You don't even walk your POOR dog.

I will not be adding to "drama' here by responding to those who want to attack me personally. They can email me if they have a question/comment. I just think drama is a waste of time/space and is for those who aren't out working/playing with their dogs.
