Just saw this post.  Are you still in need of money or has the quota for the surgury been met?  I would like to send a donation if it is still needed.

 Lyn,

The surgery itself is $1800. Someone here, Susan, has already spent $600 out of her pocket on the first eval. And meds and follow-up care will be needed. I am confident that there is not yet an excess of donations. I also am confident that if and when that becomes the case, that the OP and Susan will let us know. Susan can keep track of donations to the Vet clinic. I would suggest sending your donation if you are willing and able. And thank you for doing so.

Hi Lyn,

I do not know if or if not the quota for the surgery has been met yet. It would sure be nice if it did. Neverless, my understanding is, that Nala will need meds thereafter, so it would even be nicer if exxessive funds could be used towards these meds. It surely would be a much needed break for the family.

Anyways, thank you for wanting to help.

Ulli

Thank you Lyn, and Ulli, yes, this situation IS a PRIME and wonderful example of so many of the people here who care deeply about helping people. Some of us can only give a little. Someone who wants to remain anonymous apparently was incredibly generous. But together, it appears we all can make a positive difference in the life of the dog, and certainly in the life of the family and the little boy. It is in situations like this where the true nature of some people shines through and I, for one, am proud of all who I know and don't know who have stepped forward. They are some damn fine people!! Kudos especially to Susan who stepped right up initially to check out the situation and when it was serious, made a great effort to help in a very real way with time, energy and a large amount of money. i hope some of the excess can go back to her too, if there is any, because I know this was not an easy amount to part with on her part.

From what I have read, it looks like the total amount needed for the surgeries is already almost filled...As I was reading the updates on this thread, it brought tears to my eyes to see that such generosity is being displayed.  Nala will get to stay with her family, she will get the medical treatment she needs and she will also have the medications she needs to keep her going.

Bravo to the GSD community for coming together like it has.  We are an opinionate bunch of people, and some are prone to insulting each other when they feel like it, but when it comes right down to someone justly needing help, GSD people band together and make it happen.

It makes me very proud to be a part of such a community.

Thumbs Up!

Crys
