I also have a german showline dog, but she is also a schutzhund 3.All I'm trying to say is all gsd's are not the same.Some are sweethearts,some are little devils.More true in some lines then others I still think alot of it is genetic,ingrained as you said is a very good description of this behavior.Probably see it in some american showlines also.
It's in the gene pool and can pop up from time to time unexpectantly.But more prone to do so in a true working line dog,thats bred for sport or military,police venues.Just my opinion. Michael
