Micky D:  Here is a link to the video you tried to post:

http://newsproject.org/

I'm very happy to see it, I just wish there were more of this early on.  I truly believe if McCain was an honorable man he would have nipped this kind of crap in the bud instead of waiting until it backfired on him.  Instead we now get the Robocall messages, which basically are more of the same.

It's too bad McCain/Palin evidently did not feel they were strong enough on the issues, and instead felt they had to stoop to playing Carl Rove dirty politics as usual.

Sigh.......I'm still thinking of writing in Willie Nelson

Definition of the word "preside" per Webster's Dictionary!

to exercise guidance, direction, or control2 a: to occupy the place of authority : act as president, chairman, or moderator b: to occupy a position similar to that of a president or chairman3: to occupy a position of featured instrumental performer —usually used with at<presided at the organ>

To the person who asked earlier what SNL was = Saturday Night Live TV Show

 Micky D,

PLEASE try to edit your post and get out the videos. If you try to delete just them, and give a link if you wish, yet leave in or add some additional text, you might be able to do it. As you know, they run, both at the same time, and it is irritating to say the least.

As for Palin and her understanding of government, it is about as flawed as her understanding of ethical behavior.

by Micky D on 21 October 2008 - 22:10

Hodie, believe me, I've tried. However, the blasted things are embedded. They don't show up on the edit page. I think Oli could delete the whole post. I don't know what else to do. Are there moderators? Could they delete the post?

Once again, mea culpa.

And, as to Palin, yes she is mistaken, but Joe Biden was unaware that the duties of Vice President are outlined in Article 1 of the US constitution, not Article 2. Biden makes a further mistake when he opines, the Vice President presides over the Senate "only in a time when in fact there's a tie vote. The Constitution is explicit." The Constitution, though, actually says the vice president is always president of the Senate and may preside at any time.

As I said above, Palin may have tried to speak to young children, when she made the error. She was wrong, but Mr Biden is the one with 33 years of experience in the Senate. It's a non-issue, really. People are human. Both Mr Biden and Ms Palin made mistakes.

Whew!  I got into the source code (heh heh) and hosed up the links.  That fixed it.

Good job Micky D!  And yes, people are human and make errors.....I agree on that point.

The Constitution Article 1, Section 3

"The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided"

I beleive this is exactly how Joe Biden described the duties of the VP.  As far as Palin - she made this mistake twice !

by Micky D on 22 October 2008 - 00:10

Yes, Article 1, section 3, does refer to the VP's duties as far as the legislative branch goes, whereas Article 2 outlines the Executive branch, to which the President and Vice President belong. Here is the beginning of article 2:

Article II "Section 1. The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his office during the term of four years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same term"

The Vice president is part of the Executive branch, but also presides over a portion of the Legislative branch as the president of the senate. Biden mistakenly said, the VP only presides when there is a tie vote. The Vice president always has the power to preside, whether or not there is a tie vote, however, he (or she) gets to vote only in the case of a tie. There again, this really is a non-issue. Palin, and Biden made mistakes. Neither should be hurt by semantics.

Dearest Sueincc

You posted ......"So it's understandable that McCain/Palin supporters are bitter and afraid."

So now you know how I feel...........how nice......... but there is more .........MUCH MORE TO HOW I THINK !!

* I don't think some politician in Washington who has never held a job outside of politics in his entire life, has a better handle on what to do with my money than I do.

* I don't resent wealthy people. To the contrary, I want to become one of them one day.

* I don't get upset that the federal government "doesn't care about me." In fact, I'd be pleased if it forgets that I exist.

* I believe there are no fantastic new programs left for the federal government to implement.

* It isn't the job of the federal government to make us successful; it's the job of the federal government to create an environment that allows us to make ourselves successful.

* I believe in equality of opportunity, not equality of outcomes.

* I believe our tax rate is too high as it is and if it's not producing enough revenue for Washington, D.C. then they should start trying to live within their means instead of asking us to pony up more money.

* I beleive having a government that is too involved in our lives is far more of a threat than a government that isn't involved enough.

* I beleive life begins at the moment of conception and we have an obligation to speak up for the children that are being exterminated via abortion since they can't speak up for themselves.

* My priorities are God, family, and country, in that order.

I'll be giving you a test on this in the near future.......so study hard now
