Ok I take that.

So how do you ensure balanced temperment gets passed down.  My old girl would have passed any of the tests thrown at her, unless you could catch the 1% of the time when she went off on one.

Marge

completely agree with you 100%,well said!!

Singe, this is what i have being tying to say all along.Unfortunately the majority of GSD breeders are like the ones you spoike to

All these suggestions for the breed council must start with more basic education, until you can reach the ones that dont even agree to hipscore how on earth are you gonna achieve more.

And David you constantly rabbit on about people not showing their face, what the hell do you expect when every time they say something you dont agree with you hit them, their kennel and their dogs with a barrage of insults. You are a typical Aurther Scargill all mouth and bully tactics, this is no way to hold a reasonable discussion.perhaps if you were more reasonable people would be happy to say who they were

Marge, Peggy and anyone else with the same feeble excuse for being anonymous. Face the truth, which is you are hiding your identity and your dogs identity because your comments would not be taken very seriously if people knew who you are. Comments from people have a relativity to who they are and their achievements. That does not change on here. I see anonymity as simple cowardice, proven each time an anonymous person makes an attack on an open entity and/or their dogs on here, or they make a reference to them or makes a nasty innuendo. You have no excuse being anonymous other than being a coward. Being afraid of another persons comments directly to the real you is cowardice, ensuring the 'hidden' you can snipe about and at people without being known is unprincipled and cowardice. You call me a bully, it is meaningless coming from an anonymous turd, and determined with little or no knowledge of me. You simply don't get it; while you are living your pathetic insignificant wallflower existence, sniping from behind closed doors, whispering about people behind their backs, typing insults and attacks under an anonymous name on here, just remember you are continually asserting your own irrelevance. One thing is certain in life, shit sticks together, just like anonymous turds, through mutual cowardice.

I am not a genetisist or indeed a breeder, but what you start with is sound of body and mind stock, and ACCCEPT they are stock and ALL will have there faults they are animals and much like ourselves ,children have traits from there parents and traits from we know not were

i have 3 animals from our last litter (11 years ago)

Both parents good breed type/lines good hips and both trained to a degree (the male was sch111)

the three animals we have all good type and hips

Male 1 Stubborn lazy insipid good temperament little training

Female Stunning type and movement scatty submissive (not nervous) very active good temperament

Male 2 Active excellent temperment biddable strong in aggession(in work) SCH111

Arthritis in male 2 at 7 years no sign in other two

We have to srtive to breed our version of the perfect dog unfortunately only one lives (somewhere north of KATMANDU)

So we accept all puppies will be born with inhertited faults we just have to make sure the vitues mask them

This thread is Breed Improvement (not anonymous posters) but it might be a good idea to start a thread on that subject so that people could explain why they remain anonymous

DP, I do not offer you or anyone else an excuse of any kind for being anonymous!  My name would probably mean nothing to you anyway!  Sometimes it gives you a kind of "freedom"; some "top breeders" can be rather snotty at shows... unless you're showing, appear interested in buying or using one of theirs!

You don't have to be a great footballer to understand the game!  It doesn't always follow that you have to be successful to be knowledgable!  A few years ago, when chatting to someone who'd been breeding for more than 20 years (with some success) I was stunned to hear them talk about getting sables... from 2 black & tans... pretty basic stuff eh?  Success is not a guaranteed indicator of knowledge.

I had never contributed or even looked at this or any other site like it before the 2 day show in Scotland.  This should be a great place for exchanging ideas, info and all sorts for the betterment of our chosen breed but there's a bit of an ego problem with some... their way is the only way, they are right, they know more, they've been doing it longer, bigger, better, or they want to bitch and point out what they believe to be, the error of someones ways.  I agree wholeheartedly, that IF you have something detrimental to say about someones dogs/breeding practices... make yourself known first, it's only fair, better still, don't post it on here atall... tell the person face to face.

missbeeb: you state, "I agree wholeheartedly, that IF you have something detrimental to say about someone’s dogs/breeding practices... make yourself known first, it's only fair, better still, don't post it on here at all... tell the person face to face."

THIS STATEMENT ADDRESSES THE CRUX OF THE ANONYMITY PROBLEM ON THIS SITE. - THE SOLUTION

How do you fully implement your solution, to those anonymous entities that attack, lie, and make derogatory comments about "open" people on this site? They are the scum that need stopping. They INFEST this site, and have ALL anonymous entities tarred with the same brush.

reason: why they remain anonymous? is all to obvious for many of them. COWARDICE

DP, I think most of us would pay scant attention... wouldn't we?  Perhaps the best way to treat people who slate others dogs etc (on here) is to simply ignore them, there could be little point in anyone bitching if it induced no response!
