@Bavarian Wagon - Your message about "...Train anywhere..", "..find a group of people to train with.." makes me chuckle, not at you but in agreement with the spirit/intent of your message. It has been my experience that when you get a group of 'trainers/handlers' together anywhere near a usable space, training seems to take place. If one of these people happens to be a helper then all the more enjoyment!!!
I am very involved in my club & regions "politics" which can get wearing, but at the end of the day, i still enjoy the time spent in training with my 4 legged partner and being around like minded individuals who train to trial or who train for points.
My point to this rambling is this. YES you need to be a member of a AWDF/FCI recognized Parent club in order to have a Score book, you need a AWDF/FCI recognized score book to participate in most IPO trials, but that is where it stops on the NEEDS relating to club affiliation unless looking to compete at WUSV worlds or UScA nationals I believe. There are a lot of competitors who compete on the club and regional level who are not part of a 'local club' for various reasons. At the end of the day, if someone wants to train/trial they will regardless of politics at any level.
