I am sick. I thank God the seizure took place. This is disgusting and my heart aches for these dogs. THERE IS NO MORE DEFENDING A MONSTER! And I can only hope they find her partner and throw the both of them behind bars. Any one that knows where he is please call the police. After seeing these photos, I apologize for ever questioning the interaction of the agencies that work so hard to protect those that cannot protect themselves.

I don't see how the dogs couldn't get seized! Really, how could this be transformed into a liveable situation for even just the humans? That would certainly take some manpower, money and time to accomplish, for what most of us would call minimal, acceptable conditions. I have no idea of the legal steps that were applied or abused, really. I don't doubt there is an angle to that, open for manipulation. I just seem to have less sympathy for the one(s) that caught that type of attention, than the one's that are doing the actual "clean up". The ownership of some of the dogs, and all that, well. Sometimes one just has to acknowledge the necessity of a good lawyer, true.

so the seizure should have happened, then you take them, you vet them, you clean them up, you FIND THE OWNERS if there is a discrepency of ownership.  you DO NOT tell everyone to take a flying leap, say there are 6 or 10 dogs that are given to the K9 department and others given to "friends" of the shelter and talk about how it's the worst case of abuse you've ever seen so you can solicite more funds when the dogs themselves appear to be dirty, but hardly unhealthy.  Those are the parts about the seizure that bother people.

Does anyone actually have facts on which dogs are where, that their legal owners say are not being rightfully returned? Is there an official list somewhere? That would be some list to peruse, I would imagine!

They may have been getting enough to eat but if they are that mucky and over
crowded (and probably not being sufficiently exercised), then they are not really
in good physical condition.  The dog with the ear infection was not a pretty sight,
anymore than the cramped and dirty caging.
What this looks like to me is the old, old story of someone who maybe didn't have
bad intentions but took on more than she could eventually manage.  Does AKC
not have a confidential helpline for breeders "in over their heads and getting past
it"  ?  The KC in the UK has a number which people can call and ask for
help. ... Although there are certainly breeders who won't admit they need help.

I do however have a lot of empathy with zdog's position on the reported activities
of the CGHS and possibly local Police ;   if those things ARE true, they are decidedly
'out of order'.

I was asked to repost the link to photos or the website.
I will post both, with your indulgance, as I am not sure how to make the photos link 'clickable?"
If this is redundant, I apologize.

The above link is to the site for the shelter that is caring for the dogs.  If you look at the article "Durham GSD Update"
you can scroll down and see the photos   -OR-

You can try this direct link (but knowing my tech skills it may not work)

From what I gather, Dawn Verdeschi/ Dawn Jagr is refusing to cooperate in identifying dogs or
helping to find co owners.   That is a shame.   One would think she would want them out of there
ASAP, especially into the hands of legitimate co owners or lessors?

I know that the shelter is OVERWHELMED with expenses of this.  If  anyone would like to give even 5.00
to their "donate" link, I can only guess it would be hugely appreciated.   Thumbs Up

all that matters now is that anyone that is a position to help in any way possible no matter how big or small to do so for the love of dogs.

Might someone local who saw them at training be able to identify some of the dogs?

The only thing I'll say.... is make sure you have all the facts before giving this shelter any of your hard earned money!!
They are not the type of sneaky, lying organization I'd ever like to be linked to.

No, zdog, the dog were NOT in "pretty good shape". They were dehydrated, very thin and one had an untreated injury with infection to the bone that required surgery. You're kidding right, zdog???? If you think that this woman should ever have any animal in her care you're out of your mind. Those involved with siezing the dogs did so to help and god bless them. The shelter already has over $10,000 in costs. Some of the shelter workers have paid out of their own pockets to help. Those poor dogs were living in there own feces (some bloody) but you think that's not such a big deal?? Go back and look at the pictures. What the hell did you expect them to do?
Then the "charletons", the "dog dealers" showed up at the shelter, sent by some who have posted to this thread to try to get there hands on some of the dogs most likely for personal gain. Claiming some kind of "ownership" but guess what, nothing to prove ownership. Right. And if they were dumb enough to have some kind of co-ownership without paperwork then they get what they deserve.
