Indeed they overheat faster because of their intensity, not anything else. They have also taken over the working dog world and replaced many former great breeds. Yep, they are cheaper, they are the working man's breed.
I also feel they are wasted in sports like IPO, they are much better suited for KNPV and NVBK.

Here you go again......
"........and obedience tracking"
It seems as though you were about to give me a lesson on tracking in another thread not to long ago but then you disappeared.
One of the things you were about to inform me on was what it is you mean by this phrase, which you have used before many times with a somewhat negative tone.
Can you explain it to me now?

In my opinion, the entire event is set up in such a way as to be a fun sport, not a true measure of a dog's worthiness. The dogs that should be bred are the type of dogs Paul keeps looking for and wants to use in a breeding program and I cannot see many dogs of that caliber being mallable enough to compete in a points event.

"I cannot see many dogs of that caliber being mallable enough to compete in a points event."
Just to be clear....if "one of Paul's dogs" could be trained to do IPO tracking then he is no longer breed worthy?

Mike, IPO is not just a tracking event, its a 3 different phases one, I am sure you know this. You can go to the pound today and pick up a dog and train it to do IPO style tracking, does that make it breed worthy?
If one of Paul's dogs did get a tracking title, it would not be the title itself that may make it breed worthy, just to be clear.

and isn't everything we do with dogs just "obedience" I mean if you really want a dog to do what it wants, give it free access to food, water and everything else and let it go. See how that works for you. Otherwise when it's herding, it's doing what "WE" want in a way WE direct it or it is just chasing sheep. If it's biting, it's biting what we want it to, for as long as we tell it to and it lets go when we command it. Obedience biting. Otherwise you just have a dangerous dog. Tracking? I don't are if it's SAR, air scent, cadaver search, footstep to footstep, urban or wilderness, it's doing what we train it to do with it's nose. If it's not, it's just looking for food or out for a walk. It's all obedience tracking.
Just go train your dogs people. you might learn something about them someday

Train we do daily, dogs that cannot be titled, they are out there and its not because they suck or their trainers do, I assure you.
