Muslim McCain campaign worker tells bigots to buzz off

Micky D...

This is a non issue.

Osama is not a Muslim. He is a Christian, raised by a Christian family.  Youre falling for Propoganda or Zioganda, as I call it. Zionist Propoganda.

If you want to see Hate & Supremecy..look at the Jewish Talmud.  Nothing compares to pure vile, hatred & bigotry.

Im for Freedom of religion for all peoples, but if people want to bring up Islam, lets make sure we bring up the TALMUD as well, as AIPAC, the Israeli Lobby,  runs the USA.   No double standards please.

Link to my favorite website, run by a Jew aka The Skunk.

You miss my point.  The point is not Obama's religion, it is the McCain campaign's official stance on bigotry.

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/21/palin-vp-senate/   Palin Claims The Vice President Is ‘In Charge Of The U.S. Senate’»

Yesterday, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) sat for an interview with KUSA, an NBC affiliate in Colorado. In response to a question sent to the network by a third grader at a local elementary school about what the Vice President does, Palin erroneously argued that the Vice President is “in charge of the United States Senate“:

Q: Brandon Garcia wants to know, “What does the Vice President do?”

PALIN: That’s something that Piper would ask me! … [T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.

Watch it:

Indeed, while Palin suggests that questions about what the Vice President does is something only her daughter Piper would ask, Palin herself asked this very question on national television in July. Apparently, she still hasn’t learned the correct answer.

Article I of the Constitution establishes an exceptionally limited role for the Vice President — giving the office holder a vote only when the Senate is “equally divided”:

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.

Moreover, the U.S. Senate website explains that the modern role of Vice Presidents has been to preside over the Senate “only on ceremonial occasions.” ThinkProgress contacted Senior Assistant Paliamentarian Peter Robinson, who also disputed Palin’s characterization of the Vice President’s role:

In modern practice the Vice President doesn’t really control the Senate. … If anyone has a responsibility to try to govern the Senate, it’s the responsibility of the two leaders.

(CONTINUED FROM ABOVE)

This comment is all the more puzzling because this is at least the 2nd time she has said this. Gov Palin needs to re-read or perhaps read for the first time the Constitution. While the Vice President presides over the Senate, he or she is not in charge of it. Article 1 says The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.

The Senate is part of a co-equal branch of the federal government.

Sue, I have to say, she's mistaken.  It's true the VP is the President of the Senate, but he or she isn't "in charge".  Even if she was trying to speak in terms a kid would understand, that was a misstatement.

I have no doubt, every time she starts to open her mouth and answer a question to which she has not previously been given the answer to memorize,  or veers off course and  "ad libs" an answer, her handlers inwardly groan, because they know each time she does this,  it's another vote for Obama.

Obviously the republican party doesn't have a very high opinion of voters if they thought voters would be happy with her as McCains running mate.

Guys, I'm sorry about the double post of that non-You Tube video.  I've tried to edit the thing since it seems to start every time the page is accessed, even to delete it altogether, but can't get it done.

Mea culpa.

The president of the senate does "preside" over the senate.  I have a feeling this is where she's making her mistake.  If she tried to phrase it in such a way a child could understand, she's still making a gaffe, unless to preside means to be in charge of.

That said, Mr Biden mistakenly made the statement that the VP's role is outlined in Article 1 of the US constitution, as opposed to Article 2, which outlines the Executive branch.  Mr. Biden said the vice president's only role is to support the president and to preside over the Senate "only in a time when in fact there's a tie vote. The Constitution is explicit." The Constitution, though, actually says the vice president is always president of the Senate and legal scholars say he has the right to preside at any time.

Therefore, both candidates have made gaffes.  So what do you do, except shrug and go on about your life?

Micky
