Sorry jenn, I just canI't stand ignorance. It's those like linda that make these pups meet their demise.
She wants to insist that problems are inevitable from blue dogs based on one shit breeder in the UK.
i would love to see some facts about the health problems associated with blue shepherds. Based on my own personal experience, I have seen none.
as far as my blue yorkie, i bought, supposedly 'show quality dogs,(yeah, ShOw me a bald dog). Her blue is bald, she is two lbs, and healthy as a horse. She hangs with my shepherds(i know, another big no, no)..
I have been researching blue dogs for quite sometime.
Do i say people should be breeding for blue dogs? Well , despite the fact that i love them, i stopped doing it mtself, even tho i could have kept at it.
i stIll have blue carriers. I want nothing but the best for my dogs. I would just like to have the facts be known, thats all, and the fact is,
A BLUE DOG IS NO MORE PRONE TO ILLNESS THAN ANY OTHER DOG,BASED ON IT S COLOR..

Joni, I was serious when I said I did not mind. I don't need an apology; I just want to know where Linda is finding her CDA info because I can't find evidence that makes me think that's what he has. As there seem to be more blue dogs in the UK (almost every pic I can find is in the UK!) maybe she has access to articles I cannot find.

The liink I sent you to the breeder of blues, her stud dog came from the UK. I have spoke with her, numeros times, and I know several people that also have her dogs, no one has ever told me there were any health Issues.
Back in the day when I was producing blues, I was looking to bring I was wanting to get another blue, from different lines. MY dogs were German bloodlines, GsL and DDR, theirs were American and maybe UK, anyway, dogs that were unknown to me and that I could not find enough background info on that I could feel comfortable with .
Don't hold your breath waiting on that proof, I been looking for it for years. My kids get mad at me, asking, where are you, German Shepherd Land?
I have basicly spent years looking all this stuff up, however, I have done more than some book wizards, I have lived It and seen it.

Well, I haven't (lived it and seen it). I've had no experience w/off colors, ever, until those darlings appeared in the middle of the night, as testament to a higher power's sense of humor. Now, from that moment on, I've done TONS of research, but can't really find much other than the general consensus that blue does NOT correlate with a higher incidence of HEALTH problems, but that it MAY correlate with a higher incidence of coat and skin problems, but that applies only in cases where the lines are affected to begin with, ie, being blue or green or whatever doesn't CAUSE it if the lines don't already have it. Wondering

I really only "care" from a standpoint of where do I put this pup? I mean, I'm not looking to get into breeding for off-colors, and he's been deemed healthy, so from a standpoint of finding out exactly what this is, I've resigned to possibly never knowing,  but Ely is a monster. I mean, a devil and a half.  Now, how many experienced homes are going to want him? I think he's really intense- looking and I love his attitude, but he's not for everyone. He's just going through a really aggressive stage, perhaps, but I cannot see myself responsibly placing this little miscreant to a pet home, and that's typically what wants blues, unless his temperament does a 180 degree turnaround.

I would love, love, love to see the right person get him into a working home. There is nothing that would please me more than to see someone take him and get a title on him,
that would be like, one small step for a dog, one giant leap for blue dogs, lol.
I know you will do what Is best for him jenn. The Right home for him Is out there, they just don't know it yet.
ps, if you end up keeping him around for awhile, I will pay your asking price and send him for police work to a force of your choosing...no good dog is a bad color

Joni, that's very generous. I couldn't let you do that.

I promise I will not do anything stupid with him;-)  I'll keep him and imprint him for his most likely future tasks so he's ready for anything when we figure out what's best for him. I do think it would be entertaining for jailbirds to converse about the scary blue dog w/the lightning bolt forehead who landed them in jail. LOL

My kids get mad at me, asking, where are you, German Shepherd Land?

ROTFLOL!!   I'm sure there are a few of us whose families ask that same question!  Teeth Smile

I still don´t understand why the people on this board are discussing about alopecia in case of this pup.
Did anyone EVER see alopecia formed like a line or like a scratch? I haven´t, the vet hasn´t, in my opinion you haven´t, too.
I wouldn´t wonder, if it´s totally gone in 4 weeks, maybe some differently colored hairs left...

Maybe this scratch defines the "borderline" between working and show genes, and little Mohawk decided not to care about this border in his brain any longer Wink Smile

Speaking for myself, I didn't post specifically because of the line/scar/whatever on his head. I'm curious how this will play out because, as the OP has said this puppy has a poor or strange coat. That, coupled with his color, and, to a lesser degree the odd hairless line on his head, makes you wonder. At least it makes me wonder.
