Jenni78

No, Michele. I bought her as an unproven young bitch  around 18mos. old (the only reason I was even able to get my hands on her; if she'd been proven, I have no doubt she wouldn't have left Germany!) and then waited until she was 2 to bring her home, so she could be Koerklassed there.

Thank you so much for the compliments; I agree wholeheartedly. I was SHOCKED when that animal got out of the crate at the airport. I had only specified temperament and structure; I hadn't said a word about color or looks or anything of the sort. She's stunning, esp. for a dog who can WORK!  I had only ever seen a tiny blurry picture of her standing. Couldn't even tell if she was black and tan or bi from the pic. I felt like I won the lottery that day I picked her up!

Jenn,

I never wondered about whether or not you OFA your dogs.  You stated it many, many times.  You have absolutely stunning dogs, appearance-wise, and they are sound working dogs, from what I have read here, from you and others.  Therefore, I don't understand what's going on here.  If I am not mistaken, your dogs are working-line dogs.  Steve's Izzy is also a working line, so don't get that clash either.  Workingline, titled, Koerklassed dogs...both of you.

As for Steve's writing:  I have no trouble reading it at all.  I am a stickler for the best grammar and spelling I can get, and I also try to ensure that words are used properly, as some that sound the same (and spelled differently) are sometimes interchanged, mostly by those whose first language is Americanized English.  Words such as "to" and "too", "their" and "there", and "insure" and "ensure", are easy for people who were not aces in academics to mix up.  Even those who did very well in English and spelling may sometimes use the wrong words.  Another common thing I see people doing is taking plural nouns and putting an apostrophe between the word and the "s", as in "I walked my dog's today..." As most know, a proper use of the apostrophe would be ""My dog's collar"... Or, "It's cold outside today."  Not, "That dog has lost it's way."  Anyway, I think I'm rambling...Long days and not much sleep will do that to you...Cause you to go totally off topic on someone's thread and just keep rambling on.  Sorry, Nona, and Jenn.

I have read many posts by Steve; I do agree about the lack of punctuation, but still, have no trouble reading them.  These forums tend to get people's dander up.  People are in such a hurry to post their opinions that they just type out what they want to say and post it, rarely checking what they've written to be sure it conforms to the rules of English.  Passion is something a lot of GSD people share, whether they are doing things the right way or not.  And both Steve and Jenn believe in responsible breeding.

My personal feelings would be that if I were breeding, I would want my breeding dogs carrying working titles, KKL, hips and elbows clear, and a passing score in conformation.  That is what I have always wanted.  Simply making puppies is not what I would want to do.  If I can't afford to do it right, then I won't do it at all.

That said, however, OFA is not the be-all, end-all, either.  Those x-rays are graded by humans and humans make mistakes.  Positioning can be bad, examining vet could be having a bad day, all that.  So I think that maybe sending away to both SV and OFA might be the better way.  Two opinions are better than one.

Well guys much has been put into print since i went to bed last night, so here are a few replies may miss a few
First to
OGBS
When it comes down to it i am no gentleman, If anyone gets on my back i will retaliate, it does not matter if in words or real life so thats put to rights
Bgstout
Thank you
and i did say to Jenni was wrong
Sue
Thank you. we have the same Goals with these Dogs but i think we are in the minority of the ones posting on this thread, Thank Goodness there are others on this board like Big Bob just to name one who thinks the same way
OBGS
The Dogs i mentioned above as prospective mates for Izzy if the time ever comes, Like all things i have done in sports i set a high threshold, meaning it was on myself the competition had to be the best and the hardest. Thant also applies to Dogs If Izzy ever gets to ScH3 and i know she will by the end of 2011, It will not have to be passing scores, She will have to earn each title with very good scores, That is the difference to passing and being better
Should she fail to get good top scores right through, she will never be bred from.
As i said i set my targets high on both myself and my Dogs, Nothing big about that it is the way i have done all my life, Because i am an old man as some put it, my mind is not so old or is it much less sharp as it was, Goals remain the same until you die, Least ways with me they do

Continued Jenni
You pull me up regards my full stops and commas etc, I have noticed with your posts you put a w/word  or to make it plainer a w / then a word what does that mean in the English Language
Now to get to the point you berated me, Okay i take not too much notice of it but you do carry on trying to belittle so you get it back and i tell you guys now you will get it back from me, I am on here to talk about Dogs G.S Dogs and some of the stuff i read makes my blood run cold,
Very few on here are really trying to better the breed and why i say that is because many do not abide by the rules set out by the governing body of there country, They set there own rules it is wrong and it is ruining the breed as we know it.
Selective Breeding from everyone who breeds with these dogs should be priority, But i may as well talk to a brick wall with some, they are not interested in reading posts for what they contain but to pick stupid faults in a word spelt not the way they think it should be instead that shows the mentality of that poster
Finally to NONA
Nona
You would not be recognized over here in Belgium as a viable breeder no matter how many litters you have produced, and what you did produce would never sell over here. and i am not being mean but stating true facts
and i add this you are more no free than i am, You can carry a Gun by Law that is all you can do use it wrongly and you are in deep tu tu.
That is the only difference No one bothers me over here or in the UK providing i do not commit a crime, I fought to keep it that way years ago well that was the general idea

Good Morning Steve,

How long have you been living in Belgium?

When you dream, what language is it in?  English, Dutch, French or German?

Just curious,

Michele

I'm just glad we live in the USA....I could care less about  people in Belgium and what they think of me..I do not do things to be recognized, or for people to think I am "vaible"..I do not breed because people want to buy puppies, or I want to sell puppies.  If those are the things that classify people as breeders, than I am not a breeder....I have no one to answer to or please but myself and my daughter.  We do whats best for us and whatever anyone else thinks, it is just their opinion, which we do not have a problem with.....PEACE.....

Steve, just so you know,  we have no need for guns, don't even own one. We have our dogs for our personal protection....We can sleep at night and not have to worry about if they are loaded or not, or if they will jam when needed.

Nona,
Just off to take the Dogs Tracking good weather for it drizzly rain just the job.
Most in your country boast catrrying Guns for personal protection, seems they need it in some places but that is not the issue of who can do this or that and having handled enough guns in my lifetime and used them not a subject that interests me
Regards the Dogs No, you will never conforn to what standards your Dog Body sets down, that is no Kudos to you quite the opposite, You are a Breeder you say so and you have a Kennel name,
Me' i am just a lowly pet owner who wants to do the best for my Dog,  stick to the rules set down which are in place solely to better or keep the breed strong for future generations,
However you are a person who thinks only of yourself the welfare of the breed is not in your heart, But nothing will change you  or a lot like you in your way of thinking. Carry on the way you are, one day you may wake up and realise you are not doing the breed any favours

Steve, You are wasting your time with Nona, breeders like her will never change their ways, money, money, money. There is no excuse for x raying and not certifying, if for nothing else than the record. By certifying we get a picture of what a sire/dam is producing how else do we know what the hips elbow status of a breed is like if we do not submit  x rays?? I would also like to say Steve, I believe you have got Jenni totally wrong, just look at the dogs she owns and the small amount of puppies she has bred, they are outstanding. She comes across as a very dedicated owner/breeder, I would by a puppy from her in a heartbeat. I fully understand your passion Steve about the breed and hips/elbows etc.etc. I totally agree all breeding animals should have all health tests done and officially CERTIFIED, but I am sad to say nothing you or I say will change the mind set of breeders like Nona. Realized that some time ago. Steve, if I were on the market for a puppy you and Jenni would be the type of breeders at the top of my list, and would not hesitate to recommend either.
NONA.... Why do you actually breed puppies, you have said why you wouldn't, so could you say why you do???

Bazza
Just got back from Tracking and Goran was Crap, Izzy was reasonably good , not great
Gina snuffs along with a noise like a Pig, Shows she has her nose well in there good for 6 months Old
Regards Jenni,
i said i made a mistake and have done so three times now  nothing more to be said on that, But i sure would not want to be married to her. or her to me i expect there would be fireworks of some kind or the other
Regards Nona,
As you say there is no where to go with that Lady, She thinks of herself only so that we know to be the score with her.
